It's all just part of the liberal need to always have some third group, neither Democrat nor Republican, to blame for their defeat. Cerebral Bore posted:Leftists gritting their teeth and voting for the lesser evil has so far resulted in a Democratic party run by utter incompetents that's been completely shut out of power on every level even when the other side is a literal insane death cult. Great track record, that. All of this. I'm leaving the Senate boxes empty on my ballot this year for the first time. Corey Stewart is a total fuckstain, but Kaine doesn't do anything he doesn't absolutely have to do for regular people. I'm certain he votes for Kavanaugh without Blasy Ford coming forward - the Dem push back kept him from doing it anyway. He votes for all sorts of deregulation and whatever less his money men want unless it's highly visible and highly disliked by ~the party~. He also argued that superdelegates are fine because it's their party, so they should get a say in the choice. I hated voting for Hillary, and I'm not voting for people anymore just because they're not a Republican. I'll vote for Wexton because she seems decent and worth taking a chance on. Voting blue no matter who just lets the party continue on as they have. They don't represent my interests, so gently caress 'em. Get to a halfway decent place yourself and we'll talk.

Don't forget that Bain Capital is also in the process of screwing 30k people out of their severance at Toys'R'Us. There was a huge severance fund that they liquidated, now they're talking about maybe creating one worth 1/4 as much for the former employees even as they resurrect the brand, because they can't put out any new marketing material without former employees blowing it up on social media. Never ever forget that Romney is just as bad as the rest of the party no matter how hard the media trya to make him sound like he's not.

Can anybody recommend a good resource on leftist-alternatives to US hegemony? Lately I've been dosing my close friends with that primo Marxist poo poo and they've been surprisingly receptive to most of the domestic policy ideas, but when the topic turns to supporting countries like Saudi Arabia and Israel they turn into apologists because of the threat of Russia or China filling the power vacuum that'd exist if we started dismantling our immoral empire. "If we try to stop Israel from apartheid-ing Palestine they'll just go be buds with Russia which is bad because Russia is worse than us ." I'd like to be more prepared to offer alternative foreign policy suggestions, but my attempt at finding material on my own hasn't been particularly successful. How does a future socialist US participate in the world? How can we responsibly dismantle our empire while also preventing some other evil power from taking our place? Is that even possible without global solidarity?
