They weren't all bald in the original release.

Delaque gangers were available at a time when GSC figures weren't, so GSC players used them extensively.

Then 1d4chan enshrined what their older brothers did because that's what that do over there.

If you're talking about Delaque, yes they were.

Power axe leader has short cropped hair, but it's hard to see in that photo.

I have a theory that they were to be the "blade-looking black dudes gang" (to go along with the weird exploitation theme) until someone realized how racist that idea is.

I think you have a curious mental image of how racially aware Britain, and Nottingham in particular would have been circa 1995. Also Blade in 1995? That’s a little bit of a stretch.

Cant argue with the first point, but Blade's been around since the early 70's, whether or not the Delaque's were inspired by him is anyones guess.

Blade actually had a UK-only comic run well before his US solo series. So British nerds were probably more aware of him at the time than US nerds

I guess it would have been a bit early for movie Blade! And 90s trenchcoats were ubiquitous. Hair-having leader's hair looks a bit like Snipes' in Demolition Man, but that's clearly subjective.

Still, I'm not sure 1995 GW would have found "black people gang" inconceivable and insensitive to include in the line alongside "Klan looking lynch-gang" and "Indians on the warpath gang."

I don't think it's changed.

quote:

Designer’s Note: Put away the Clippers
Note that once a fighter has been equipped with a weapon or Item of wargear, it cannot be removed from them unless they die or are retired. Gang members become attached to their weapons, often customising them or going so far as to give them names, and asking them to part with their beloved gear would be akin to asking them to remove an arm. On a more practical point, this means that players never have to snip the weapons off their miniatures!

You can place weapons into a stash and distribute them from there, but once a member "owns" a weapon, they own it for life.

I'll do this with my plasma sniper and lv 3 demoman flamer also. If I get charged, I'm mobbing you and abusing 'a fix beyanets' instead of 'take it down'.

So it seems that a Black Shield being unable to take a Heavy Thunder Hammer is "working as intended". I guess GW doesn't think someone would want to give their best combat option the coolest weapon?

IIRC, Old Necromunda had a “leadership challenge” mechanic in one of the random campaign event d66 tables where it would simulate a duel between the leader and a rising star who’s gotten “too big for his britches” (as the kids say these days), why not use some sort of similar (probably somewhat less lethal) contest for attempting this?

That's great. In Mordheim if a goblin levelled up and rolled, "lads got talent" bonus, instead of becoming a hero, he's murdered by the orc boss.
