Yeah I'm not looking for replacements but natural attrition has it down to me only reading Gunnerkrigg when there was usually 4-5 I'd check every mwf. Maybe it's a sign of maturity...

I came across Namesake recently, which seems to both update regularly and have a solid story arc in mind.
Sleepless Domain also appears to be both of those things. At least I trust the author to work with it as she did Kiwi Blitz.
And tentatively for UnDivine on the same basis, though I'm maybe less certain on that not having an open-ended story.
Oh oh oh and Awful Hospital. Man, I'm just going to keep editing new suggestions to this post, aren't I.

I'm going to go ahead and quote my effortpost from a while back for anyone looking for something new to read.
BSF is on break right now but the break's got a defined end point (Oct 30th) and I'm taking it to avoid burning out and quitting forever. It's a good time to catch up!

Hello, friends. If you need a new webcomic to read and discuss, and would like to enjoy it, I humbly suggest Blasphemous Saga Fantasy, the story the story of Seb Fuller, a 12-year-old squire who ends up being forced into the role of world-saving hero when his mentor, Master Knight breaks a few ribs. Seb is joined by his new friend Lina Motscoud, a talented sorceress-in-training, and The Slime King, a gelatinous monster he grew up with.
Together Seb, Lina, and The Slime King must work to stop the plans of the evil wizard Grrg, who is back after decades in hiding after his defeat at the hands of a young Master Knight.

It's got action:

It's got giant monsters and golems:

It's got civil discourse:

And since it's a fantasy comic, it's got spells and potions:

BSF has been going for seven years now and I don't feel like stopping any time soon, so if you haven't checked it out before, there's a lot to read and there will be more where that came from. If you like adventure stories, goofy monsters, and fun, you'll probably like it. If the title's put you off in the past, it's too late for me to change it so whatever! Maybe check it out anyway, you might be pleasantly surprised. If you used to read it and haven't caught up in a while, maybe check it out again. People seem to like it, so you might too!

I have seen Namesake talked about before, so I might have to try it out. I already read Sleepless Domain, but I have been meaning to catch up on Kiwi Blitz, too. I remember reading part of UnDivine at some point and not revisiting it, but I can't remember why. Maybe there were only a few pages back then and they didn't hook me? I might have to try it again.

I'm already invested in All Night Laundry and I'm not sure I have the energy to keep up with more than one interactive webcomic now :ohdear:

Godslave's pretty regular with updates. I'm a fan of A Girl and Her Fed, which also updates regularly.

Line Webtoon is a good place to look for regularly updating stuff in general; I've bene enjoying CARL, Boyfriend of the Dead, My Giant Nerd Boyfriend, Super Secret, Gourmet Hound, Nothing Special (which just came off hiatus), Messenger, Hooky and the Strange Tales of Oscar Zahn.

I think it's emblematic of what someone was talking about either in here or the Paranatural thread, where young artists get these ideas for big ambitious stories without realizing how many years of their lives they'd be spending writing and drawing a 50-chapter comic three times per week. Nobody really considers why mainstream American comics split the work of writing, drawing, inking, coloring, and editing across multiple people, or why big Japanese manga creators have 3 hours a week, max, to spend with their families.

It and Kiwi Blitz are both in the process of wrapping up, but KB is on hiatus so that the author can focus on Sleepless Domain and her professional work. Which is a little sad, but understandable.

Dumbing of Age updates every day! But I don't recommend it to anyone.

In a Dumbing of Age flashback Sal got into a fight. This somehow ended up slicing open Macrie's throat. Her parents (and Marcie?) are illegal immigrants and thus cant afford insurance. Or maybe they can't apply for it? It's not really explained. Would US insurance companies even cover preexisting conditions back before obamacare got rolling when this is meant to be taking place? Anyway she can't get her vocal chords fixed. This is why Marcie is mute. Sal feels guilty since she started the fight and is trying to raise the money for the operation. To that end this 14 year old has been storing money in her piggy bank, started a go fund me for medical expenses :911:, and is robbing a 7/11 at knifepoint.

This drat comic.

I wish Willis would stick to Joyce dealing with her insane fundamentalist upbringing.

I think Back Comic was the last comic I added to my read list. A lot of the staple webcomics I used to read ended, and a bunch more I just fell out of contact with and now catching back up is going to be a bit of a trial.

Three Panel Soul, Latchkey Kingdom, and Badnix I'm real happy that I've kept up with, and they're pretty regular. There are some very regular comics that I keep up with more because they're regular as clockwork more than anything else, like Freefall. Girl Genius just came back from the Foglios' wedding anniversary break, and it's in a pretty good spot.

Back in the day I used to go to Top Web Comics to find new webcomics to follow, but it's been a dog's age since I've even seen the vote button. Hive's network thing can sometimes catch my eye, but not often.

Galvanik posted:

I wished he would stick to making nerd jokes about toys but that didn't pan out. Deep inside him, Willis has a need to write the cheesiest melodrama you can imagine, and I guess there's enough people who like reading that to support him.

Jeph Jacques does cheesy melodrama better, but Willis is much more willing to draw porn of his characters, which apparently counts for a lot.
