Here in NB, ANBL was given exclusive control over weed distribution in the form of Cannabis NB stores. Stores will sell flower, concentrates, plants, and seeds eventually. It's illegal for me to purchase seeds from anyone else. So it'll be interesting to watch all the law suits. Dispensaries are also illegal here.

For a fast food joint, A&W has gotten much, much better than from when I remembered it in the 90's. I think they've been more successful in pushing the healthier choice thing than what McDonalds has been trying to do. They are also the only place that hasn't hosed up a lettuce wrapped burger.

Reminder that today Ontario had last-minute legislation to allow pot to be smoked in all the same areas that cigarettes could. Vote passed 69 to 41, just one off from an extra nice number. I think we're winning the dumbest implementation.

A surprising number of places in Toronto don't. They will make excuses it costs too much, or that its slower or all kinds of stuff. I will not go to places that don't take debt. Its as bad as places that don't split checks.

I like A&W but their commercials are a load of crap with their "no hormones" boast. Sure, it's true, but it's also true of pretty much any burger shop that wants to play by the beef industry's rules. You don't get points for toeing the line. Younger points for having bomb rear end patties.

Excelsiortothemax posted:Don’t plan on moving to BC any time soon; Yeah, "drought" and "West Coast" are two terms that should not go together ever, but here we are. Snow packs are completely gone by May instead of hanging on until August feeding into rivers and streams. During the last four years fall rains haven't started with any intensity until late November. I haven't looked at any data on this but my impression is that the winter rains are short, very intense and running off instead of saturating the soil. Something is very wrong here when you're digging in the woods in March and encountering dry, dusty soil half a meter down. The cedars and balsam fir around the north end of the Salish Sea are going tits up (or whatever it is that plants do when they die). Dry cedar makes excellent kindling, so we're hosed when fire season shows up next year. If I continue to find cigarette butts along the side of our road I'm going to start murdering smokers. However, it's right next to a five guys so I'm not sure who would ever go there. 5 Guys is really expensive though. Its literally the cost of a sit down meal at a decent restaurant. I have only gone once and it was at least 17bux. There is a Swiss Chalet literally at the top of my street. I avoid going there because I feel like its way to lazy to literally walk a block for food. Speaking of that, as one of the girls I work with used to work there, and another worked at the Harvey's. From what she told me, it was just horrible. She would not be allowed to go home after a shift ended, forced to stay sometimes up to 2 hours, without being paid; "it was too busy" they'd tell her. She'd often be made to clean the bathrooms, which where always a huge mess. like people would clearly come in and poo poo on the floors and rub it on the walls. Would stuff the sink full of paper so it would flood. Yea, lets get the tiny 16 year old girl to clean this up! She told me she prefers the loblaws because we actually let her go home when her shifts over, or if she has to stay, its for a few minutes and she still gets paid for it. And because we escort people to our bathroom, they don't dare gently caress with it.
