I was totally thinking Tiburon at first, but Tiburons have pronounced flat-bottomed side mirrors with a crease running over the top. Those are definitely Supra mirrors.

It's fairly common in Eastern Europe to buy RHD cars and then swap them to LHD, it's often cheaper than buying LHD ones from Western Europe. It's also often poorly done to the point of being dangerous and ruins any resale value the car might have

The RHD E39 and E60 5 series had the wipers the wrong way round from the factory - talk about lazy localisation.

The idea there is you move the knob closer to the wheel so your hand doesn't have to go as far to shift. The downside of course is that the knob has to go farther now and counter acts your short throw geometry, but also you have way more leverage so it's easy to crunch the syncros/dogs.

I once drove the euro (sport) version of Dodge's Grand Caravan back in the late 90's that had a manual transmission with the shifter in that same location. That was a strange ride but I did like the shifter arrangement.

That's where the shifter is on the Fiat Multipla, obstensibly to accomodate the 3-wide front seating, but much more likely just as a continuation of the batshit styling from the exterior to the interior
