How do you know thats its simply impossible? If you go back in time and tell people of the medival age that someday, humanity will set foot on the moon, they too will tell you "No thats impossible!" ...you see? The same revolutionary thing happened when Apple released their first iPhone (Im nowhere near an Apple supporter tho, overpriced crap tbh). People couldnt wrap their mind around it. Give me a scientific argument why its "impossible"

They don't think a game is something you play for a few hours of your free time and have some escapist fun. A game to them is something you exist in fully. Two hours of personal hygiene, coffee and commuter train rides just to get to your nerd chariot, is perfectly fine, because its like the real world. Anything that deviates from punishingly boring and mundane reality erodes their dreams of transcending to a second life in space.

LOL, sorry. I'll try to increase my anime consumption and lower the amount of sex I have to fit in around here.

The thing is, I'm a somewhat awkward nerd with bad social anxiety and depression, who works in a windowless cave as an intelligence analyst and has an encyclopedic knowledge of Star Trek, but even I have had more sex and other healthy social interactions than the average basement dwelling incel who is still backing Store Citizen. They're all like alternate reality versions of me who have made much poorer choices and have a complete lack of self-awareness, which makes this whole mess all the more fascinating to me.

LMAO not a chance in hell. Even if it's super popular and successful it can't start a franchise because their flagship product is a life-sim mmo.

Where do you go from there? Arcade shooters in the world of SC? Who's the audience? The purple already plugging their lives into a more complex game? The people who don't care about your franchise? You're already stretched trying to get content into your huge mmo at a rate to retain players (this will happen by magic actually) and you need to be writing smaller stories to keep it feeling alive.

If they'd concentrated on S42, sure, because then they have somewhere to go. Imagine building World of Warcraft then trying to get people to buy your new game Warcraft Tides of Darkness. Nobody would care, they'd complain it's not a raid.

There's a particular type of shitlord who's super loving into this stuff. Go to the Pillars of Eternity forums sometimes, it's a loving nightmare. There's guys arguing that hiding hats shouldn't be allowed because being able to get the stat benefits of the hat without having to see it is a sign of the breakdown of western civilization and Lazy Kids These Days. It's a loving nightmare of idiocy.

a game that has fast travel is going to have vastly different travel times than a game that doesn't, but these guys don't get that, they just want fast travel gone, which would be incredibly dreadful.

i.e. i'd prefer skyrim to not have fast travel but instead you get a domesticated dragonhorse that can fly over the map in 20 seconds or whatever. it'd be nice and cool flying through the world as you travel, as opposed to "click on map -> load screen -> poof". plus, you can crash into hills or get shot at and dodge ballista arrows etc.

fast travel is just the lazy way out. it works great if you have a big world, but you can definitely also do better.
