I think vel'koz support is incredibly annoying to play against if you're good at it. I imagine it works pretty well until you get into very high elos where you absolutely need the ability to buy a bunch of utility items.

It works up to the Elo where your opponents are better at dodging skillshots than you are at hitting them.

Yeah if you play him right the other lane will never, ever get close. He's kind of situational though and if you miss all his skills then like a good Leona would immediately be up in your poo poo to set up a double. He really had the same weaknesses as mid; he's made of wet paper and explodes instantly if you can get in his face and stay there.

I still occasionally reminisce over the glory days of Vel'Koz mid being sorta popular, when I could just jam AP Malphite and ride the gravy train all the way to their 20 minute surrender.

Deathfire Grasp AP malphite ruled. Same with AP Sion. I wonder if trinity/Tiamat Leona would work in TT...

I miss the old infinite stacking of...whichever that augment was. The original yellow one? I had like 160 stacks as jungle Irelia one time. It was...bad for the other team.

Im happy that stacking BC is suboptimal but still a thing. I miss Essense Reaver Tryndamere. It was cool going from 0 cdr to like 30 cdr in one buy

that was a thing as recently as the bruiser rework or juggernaut rework or whenever the gently caress they massively buffed darius, five BC garen was a legitimate build then

Multiple sunfire capes on perma-stealthed champions was awesome, but not quite as awesome as Shaco and his ult both with 6 sunfire capes.

For a more recent one, preseason Klepto sona is the most broken thing I can remember. That or rework Morde; no one WANTED to play it, but it was so braindead that someone would assume Morde Duty if it went through bans.

I did want to play it It was out of sheer character loyalty though, I used to play Morde long before he was good just because I super loved his aesthetics He still really needs a proper rework IMO, thankfully he can't be that far away now that Nunu is finished

For me one nostalgic thing is that brief period of time where rage-blade's charged up effect was a small aoe that procced echo jungle item, and smite mid ezreal was broken.

Warwick when red smite was introduced and it did damage with every hit, he was the first champion to hit above 60% winrate because by level 6 he had a point and click stun ult that would do 600+ damage, most of which was true damage.
