It always greatly amuses me that in Sociology 101 Marxism (or rather, Conflict Theory via Marxism) is one of the very first things you're taught about. And that's probably as far as 99% of people ever go, because half the time it's needed for a basic university requirement. Sometimes they even put the manifesto on the reading list! In your Junior year theory class as a Sociology major they tell you that everything you learned in underclasses is garbage poo poo for idiots, people ruin everything, and there's ten million more social theories that are considerably better. Socialism in modern day political application means that the basic needs of every person, not even every citizen, that resides in their borders is taken care of and that the state intervenes in cases of egregious fraud, danger, or concern. But good luck getting any of that ever out to most Americans. edit: a good NANNY STATE example: there's a method to hack certain car keyfobs via signal cloning (famously used on all Teslas) that the government of Norway(?) is going to ban next year.
