When did this happen? As far as I know S02 was just as popular as S01.

I don't know if ST's popularity declined or not with S02, but its quality definitely did.

In S1, its style was nostalgic and novel. By S2, its style was just Stranger Things. By itself, I felt like that took away a lot of the appeal.

I think he can hear you, Ray.
I was never that onboard with ST from the start. Though I liked the first couple of episodes fine enough it sort of just meanders for a while until it ends. I generally liked S2 better as it felt more focused, even with its own diversions. I don't feel that it's in any way original though and it's the very definition of pastiche.

I liked S2 more than S1. I was born in the early 60s though. That may color my opinion with a different kind of nostalgia.

Here's a fantastic trailer for what could be a pretty generic creepy kid movie. Functions well enough as a 2.5-minute short film, though:

They relaunched as a horror-centric imprint for MGM a few years back. I think their only halfway-decent release is The Belko Experiment.

MGM bought out what was left of Orion in 1997, and revived it as a subsidiary in 2014. and have been distributing low-budget kids' films, independent films and European stuff, like co-productions with the BFI.

I had a look at their films, and yeah, other than the aforementioned The Belko Experiment, I haven't heard of anything else they've done either.

I remember the remake of The Town That Dreaded Sundown getting some positive reviews, and I at least saw a trailer for Wish Upon, their movie about a haunted music box

The book (Bird Box) is a really good and quick read. I read it this year once the Netflix adaptation was announced and I enjoyed it. It’s definitely going to be a different experience to see the story because the book really did a good job on playing the “you can’t see them” part and letting your imagination fill a lot of gaps.

Just looks like a case of bad timing seeing as it was a script that had been knocking about a while. A QUIET PLACE just came together faster.

Is NARCOS arguably Netflix's most successful show at this point? It's not tainted the way HOUSE OF CARDS is, and it's still going unlike those Marvel shows they've just cancelled and it seems to be well-liked. Changing up the focus each season seems to work well for them. Though I'm sad it probably puts a hold on anyone tackling Don Winslow's books for TV.

I have a soft spot for it because it goes further than most actual reporting and explicitly links Mexico's cartel violence to what the US did in Colombia.
