No it was always bad, from the very first moment.

In S1, its style was nostalgic and novel. By S2, its style was just Stranger Things. By itself, I felt like that took away a lot of the appeal.

I was never that onboard with ST from the start. Though I liked the first couple of episodes fine enough it sort of just meanders for a while until it ends. I generally liked S2 better as it felt more focused, even with its own diversions. I don't feel that it's in any way original though and it's the very definition of pastiche.

I liked S2 more than S1. I was born in the early 60s though. That may color my opinion with a different kind of nostalgia.

Y'all are going to crack this one soon, I know it Here's a fantastic trailer for what could be a pretty generic creepy kid movie. Functions well enough as a 2.5-minute short film, though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REXXOGV1IIE

Trailer for the Netflix adaptation of Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock. The book (Bird Box) is a really good and quick read. I read it this year once the Netflix adaptation was announced and I enjoyed it. It’s definitely going to be a different experience to see the story because the book really did a good job on playing the “you can’t see them” part and letting your imagination fill a lot of gaps.

DrVenkman posted:Is NARCOS arguably Netflix's most successful show at this point? It's not tainted the way HOUSE OF CARDS is, and it's still going unlike those Marvel shows they've just cancelled and it seems to be well-liked. Changing up the focus each season seems to work well for them. Though I'm sad it probably puts a hold on anyone tackling Don Winslow's books for TV. I have a soft spot for it because it goes further than most actual reporting and explicitly links Mexico's cartel violence to what the US did in Colombia.
