They literally gave GM away if you got a WD subscription. At the time, that was like $48 for a full year, or something close to that.

I'm doing a research project that partially will be comparing the differences between the original Escher and the new (2017) Escher. Those of you that played Old Necromunda, do you know which of the original rule books are the best ones to look at for both Escher stats and Escher fluff? I have all of the novels already but looking into how they are portrayed to the players in both stats and flavor now.

Yaktribe is your friend, friend.

You will want the ORB stuff from here: https://yaktribe.games/community/vault/categories/necromunda.2/?prefix_id=1

The Rule Book and Source Book were the original Necromunda stuff. There's not exactly a lot of fluff about. The old gangs were only really differentiated by the access to skill trees, every gang had the same statlines for Leaders, Heavies, Gangers and Juves. Escher had Close Combat, Agility and Stealth access.

Did they give away sets generally or just the ones they had printed in Italian? I heard they were giving them away with subscriptions to Blanco Dwarfo (or whatever) but I hadn't heard they over-printed English.

I think I remember reading the number of translations they did was a barrier to profitability for the entire product?

Yeah, they printed five different translations and the non-English versions tanked. It it was to the point that the loss of invested capital almost sank the entire company. Warehousing the unsold copies cost so much it was actually cheaper to reprint the print pieces in English and give them away. Continuing to sell it would have required additional costs in marketing so that was a non-starter. It ended up killing specialist games for almost a decade. When something fails that hard it becomes toxic to even mention it again.

It’s also why it’s taken them so long to make new buggies and tracks, they had so many left over it just didn’t make fiscal sense until they got the printed quantity down.

noone I knew enjoyed GorkaMorka, except me, I couldn't get a league going. Part of it I think was the 2nd edition movement and shooting mechanics, and the other part was rules enforced WYSIWYG, so if your dude gets blasted and now has a wheel for legs, you're expected to build that (admittedly cool) model.

It’s just the groggiest game in a sub-niche of groggy games. I love GorkaMorka but it’s exceptionally dated now.

FlameKebab from Yaktribe and TUGS is working on a GorkaMorka Community Edition, which is exciting.

Orks are stupid cheap and effectively ignore the negative BS modifiers that everyone else has to plan around. They're also T4 which is huge in KT. Your friend will be just fine.

These guys are great and I love how hilariously chunky the mummy is. I think the ghoul is a little lacking though and blends too much with the skeletons and zombies. If all these models are plastic, this is the first team with 14 models to a box which is kind of interesting. Even their big guy equivalents might be in there. Hopefully, they just put out a pack with werewolves and flesh golems to let you run a Necromantic team. Eventually.

I agree with you about the ghoul. I'd rather not have two kneeling models on a team but I guess that's how they're making them distinct. I wouldn't be too surprised to see a Forgeworld pack with the Necromantic models at some point. Cheaper than putting out a whole box, and it would be a nice change from cheerleaders being most of what's being released.

Slight counterpoint to this: orks shouldn’t bother shooting at Space marines, with the attrition to their shooting rates already absurdly high, the odd lucky shots around which you have to pin all your hopes are more than likely going to do gently caress all. Just roster more combat dudes and burnas and bring them instead of shootas and big shootas if you play against marines.

Also I really like kommandos, their Move 6” and additional -1 to be shot at when in cover is nice. 1/3 more expensive than a regular boy however, and with less options.

As someone getting into kill team, where can I find the faction specific rules and data cards? Are they all in the main rulebook? I have a team of primaris I want to play with, and the druchii kit, but my rule book doesn't arrive til next week.

Everything except the exclusive tactics cards in each team box/kill zone box is in the main book, as far as non-expansion rules go.

Commanders rules are in that box/commander sets and Rogue Trader rules are in that box

Nope. You can play the game by just buying the rulebook, and you don't technically need anything else. The tactics add to the game, but aren't required. Think of them as GWs foray into DLC.

Burnas all day. They're good melee -and- ranged weapons that give no fucks about silly things like BS scores.

Team_q

Burnas are alright, they're also twice the cost of a boy, and die just as easily. Though I do like running one burna as a zealot.

I've found a nob with a kombiflamer and a commando nob with a powerclaw do the most work. Make your powerclaw Nob a combat specialist, so that they get +1 attack. And use the Dakka Dakka stratigem on your other nob so he can do 2d6 flamers and 2x2 shoota shots.

The second question first: Seriously Injured gangers don't test for Nerve (top of page 62). However, it does say that Broken fighters make become Seriously Injured and remain as such.

In terms of how far they move: although it doesn't really define it, I'd say that they'd move 1/2 their Move max, just like if they were activating normally while injured. Doesn't make sense for someone bleeding out to get up and just start sprinting. Also, keep in mind that if they're Seriously Injured behind any amount of cover (from the point of view of the enemy), they technically can't be seen, so they don't have to move at all.

The art at the end of the reveal trailer is a much nicer scheme - darker, more muted/subdued, and with more of a human-looking skin tone.
