The Beyond Meat stuff is all quite good. The upside with me as I get older is I can't handle hamburgers and brats like I used to without feeling like garbage. While the Beyond Meat stuff won't fool someone who cares most people will be non the wiser. Moreover if you just want the experience of a burger or brat then they work really well. The brats from them especially are very good. Plus all the health and ecological things and it gets real hard for me to burg when it's going to make me feel like poo poo physically anyway.

^^^ This. But A&W US doesn't have it. Yet. They're considering it. https://vegnews.com/2018/8/aandw-considers-adding-beyond-burger-to-us-locations A&W US locations are pretty far and few between in the US now, it seems. There were tons in DFW for awhile, then they downsized significantly (looks like 8 locations now - 6 are shared with a Long John Silver's, 1 with a KFC, 1 is stand-alone). Looks like we only have 2 in Austin, one way south (almost in Sunset Valley), one in a not so great area (290 and 35), both shared with LJS. randomidiot fucked around with this message at 17:53 on Oct 26, 2018 |

STR posted:... loving dealer has had it sitting on the owner's desk all this time (finally found that out 2 weeks ago, we were assured the state would mail it directly to us), and the fuckers put a lien on it too, when we paid cash (signed off on the title to remove it, but didn't file the paperwork with the state, and said they never do since they're a BHPH lot ). Going by the dates on the title, they didn't even file for the title for 7 weeks after we paid for the car. I dealt with this poo poo from a "buy here pay here" lot masquerading as a Luxury European Auto Dealer after they sold a car they didn't hold the active title for. (the correct one was sitting in a Sheriffs office in another state) Five months after the sale, the State of Illinois came after me to submit the correct title, and since the dealership had supposedly sent it in, I passed the problem onto them. 3 weeks later, the dealer was still giving me the run around with "ohh the person who handles that is on vacation" and "they actually don't work here anymore" so I threatened legal action if they couldn't give me the legal title. In the end they found it easier to take the car back and return all of my money - for a car I'd just put about 8,000 miles on. I was really kicking myself for not running it into the ground driving Uber - I'd done 3 nights and decided I prefer keeping my car nice than having it trashed as a taxi. It was developing some issues with the throttle body anyway, going into limp mode randomly, and I didn't want to drop $400 on a car that wasn't legally mine so no big deal giving it back.

How old is yours, cause mine is almost 3 months just started doing the exact same loving thing. Used to sleep from ~8pm till ~5am, get up for long enough to chug down a bottle then would sleep till ~9. Still not terrible compared to some of the people in our PEPs group(1 kid won't sleep then more than 2 hours at a time), but still annoying.

A few weeks ago the local butcher here in town unexpectedly passed away. Wasn’t even 40yrs old, two daughters under 10, wife who’s now left with a business they can’t make money from because, well, you can’t run a butchers shop without a butcher. So the entire community organised a fundraiser down at the pub last night. Pub itself put on a deal where you paid $5 for a butcher of beer (200ml glass) and that $5 went straight to the family, several businesses donated to raffles, donation tins have been all over town for the last two weeks. It’s been absolutely amazing and heartwarming to see everyone band together to support this family. I had.... 15 or so beers and a 600gm steak for dinner. I am slightly made of regret this morning. So gonna have a coffee, some weetbix and then go to the 4wd and camping show in the city with a slight hangover!

I figured out what I did wrong with my burgs! I assembled the grinder incorrectly I forgot the little spinning swastika blade thingy. What a dummy! Sadly for the rest of the weekend I’m dealing with a bunch of blotto middle aged women at a gin convention so I won’t get the chance to burg again until Monday. I’ve got 700gm chuck, 300gm sirloin/porterhouse and 200gm brisket. Should make for a tasty combo. Also picked up some whiskey pickles. What makes them whiskey pickles? NFI but they look fancy!

Suburban Dad posted:A little over a year. I'm surprised yours sleeps that well already, be loving thankful. Took us 7-8 months to get her to sleep through the night the first time. We ended up starting sleep training a week or so back, and it has been great. First few nights were rough, but now he goes to sleep within a few minutes. We wake him up once to eat in the middle of the night (haven't started cutting back on that yet since he's been sick and his congestion makes it hard for him to eat as much through the day), but it is so much better than him waking up every few hours. In a nutshell, he gets fed, then gets his little sleep routine (I read him a book and sing him a song), and then he goes in the crib. If he's still screaming/crying five minutes later, one person goes in the talk to him quietly for no more then thirty seconds or so -- no picking up. Then you leave. If he's still screaming/crying ten minutes later, you go back in for thirty more seconds. If he's still screaming/crying fifteen minutes later, you go back in for thirty more seconds. And you repeat the last fifteen-minute step until he finally goes to bed. Apparently on average the first night takes up to an hour or so, which is about where we were. He rapidly decreased that time and now it's no problemo, we generally don't have to go back in. There are more subtleties to it (you have to track when he wakes up to feed and for how long he feeds, and then go set up a schedule where you go in one hour before he generally wakes himself up to eat, and slowly decrease those feeding times), but that's the general framework. Thank god it worked, nights were getting miserable.

I miss working for a company that had blowouts like that. My last job used to reserve entire restaurants for the annual customer appreciation dinner at the annual national convention and it was always a fantastic time. I even got to advise my boss on how much to tip on a $9000 bar bill at the last one I went to. We were both drunk so it was like "I unno ten percent still sheems cheap assh" "ya I'll do more" When the convention was in our home town we didn't have any of the employee travel expenses so they reserved an amazing restaurant and we shut the bar down with a massive tab at the end. I heard rumors it was over 30k. For a family company with 40 employees and about 150 invited guests. I guess that's really only about $150 a head which isn't bad for fine dining and all you can drink. Good times. At my current job we get free pizza every quarter and a half day off afterwards. But the commute is way better.

So a few weeks ago there was a flash JetBlue sale and I booked a ticket to Boston for next Thursday for 1300 points, which I value at maybe $25. And then World Series happened and all hotels that I would stay in are $400+. I will probably just not go (I have never been) unless their is an off chance a Boston goon wants to put me up for a night. Plus do I even want to go to Boston? This is a real question I know nothing about it.

Boston was nice the last time I was there, and there's always Boston chowder if you're into seafood. AirBnB for cheap accommodation maybe? Or rent a car and book a hotel that's outside of Boston that's cheaper?

If I go I wouldn’t be getting in until late Thursday, and I’ll be in no shape for driving. One hotel is available right downtown for about $180 after tax but they are tearing it down in a few months and the reviews are horrible. I’ll check airbnb tomorrow but it’s probably high too. I am just not going to blow a ton of money or hotel points to go out two nights in Boston just because. I am just thinking out loud I appreciate your advice kind of bummed about the situation

I hadn't relocated yet so corporate plane flew me in, nice hotel, and the party was a river cruise full of booze.
