The Trump thread is packed with centrist hacks, but like half the people there are from this thread or elsewhere calling them out. So I don't understand the hate. Like I'm all for calling out Poster X or moronic centrist position Y but a huge chunk of that thread is the people here saying how bad the people who post in that thread are.

Residual frustration from when breaking groupthink in the Trump thread would get you probated or worse. LK has done a good job turning things around in the past couple weeks though and should get some serious kudos for that. That said (and this is coming from someone who intentionally steps on Centrist toes) Jesus Christ peoples- tone it down a bit in there. Especially right now when the worst Centrists are radio silent.

Trump thread has been "USPOL, only you can't poo poo talk Democrats except in the most deferential tone possible, and probably not even then" for well over a year. And I can't tell if it still is that way or if most of us have just given up to let them have their safe space. Probably a little of both.

I disagree with your assessment of the amount of and reception of the "democrats bad" posts in the Trump thread, it is still a centrist hivemind that starts going "okay enough dems bad chat" the second they get pissy. When a mod would shout in bold "shut up about dogs" that would end it for a few days, but literally every story about Trump can be responded with "oh yeah, but what is the Dem response?" And you'd have the exact same posts by the exact same posters saying the exact same thing. It's a TVIV thread, not a serious discussion thread.

I think not talking about the shooting in the uspol thread was a good thing, because the gun control debate tends to override whatever other discussions were being had and gets incredibly messy every single time. Closing it may or may not have been a good decision, but it depends on where the future of this thread and the trump thread goes. I will probably never step foot in the trump thread because no matter how well it's moderated, there are simply too many posts about the same things every day that it makes it hard to read. Getting people to post less in it has not been something any moderator has attempted to address. I'm in favor of renaming this thread as the socialist thread, because that's the umbrella most of us operate under here.

I do like that this thread has a knife fight attitude but it is sadly predictable that only one side comes to fight. Like we could generate days of content if someone would earnestly defend “vote dem no matter what, even if it is Steve Bannon” in this thread instead of in the Trump thread where they do it now.
