The worst part about the Brazil election is that there is literally zero subterfuge or dog whistling or subtle winking about fascism. It's a fascist candidate straight up telling you he's a fascist and running on promises of fascist policies and people are voting on him because they endorse his fascism. There's no other way around it, 55% of the brazilian electorate willingly voted for fascism because they wanted it, they were not hoodwinked or coerced into it, they absolutely owned it.

It's actually amazing

There were all kinds of capitalism loving right wing and centrist candidates to pick but Brazil picked the actual fascist. Because he was a fascist, not in spite of it. Hating PT or wanting change doesn't force you into voting for a fascist, being a fascist does.

Only way forward is revolution and stripping those who refuse to admit that they are wrong of vote and speech. Fallowed by use in tree planting platoons.

Definitely Brazil will need to organise a specific campaign of persecution against pentecostals. Luckily they will break easily against a iron fist. They don’t have much understanding that being a Christian is about suffering. So smashing them should be easy.

Sorry: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/28/world/americas/jair-bolsonaro-brazil-election.html

quote:

For the Workers’ Party, Sunday’s presidential defeat leaves a political movement that won accolades from much of population for affirmative action and inequality-reducing policies significantly weakened and effectively leaderless.

Party luminaries hoped that the former president, Mr. da Silva, a lion of Latin America’s left know by his nickname of “Lula,” would return to the presidential palace. Even after Mr. da Silva was jailed, party leaders said that “an election without Lula is fraud.”

When courts made clear Mr. da Silva would not be allowed to run, and the Workers’ Party nominated Mr. Haddad, a former education minister and mayor of São Paulo, the campaign’s slogan was “Haddad is Lula.”

During his campaign, Mr. Haddad visited Mr. da Silva in prison multiple times, and did little to take responsibility for the party’s mistakes. This lack of atonement pushed many hesitant Brazilians toward Mr. Bolsonaro, said Mr. Mainwaring, the Harvard professor.

“The Workers’ Party strategy was centered too much around Lula and too little around thinking about the future of the country and about winning this election,” he said. “An important part of the Brazilian electorate would have voted for the P.T. if it had drawn a line in the sand and renounced the corruption of the past.”

Most of the Portuguese Press has either done the "Actually, it's the Left that did this" or "Bolsenaro is the candidate for normal people, why are you close minded about this", the entirety of the Right Wing consensus has been doing the portuguese equivalent of Never Trump and the only thing that could stop Portugal from straight up inviting him and giving him a hero's parade of concerned but understanding solemn admiration is if you get one of the Bolso kids to spit on a fountain or call Cristano Ronaldo a dreaded homosexual.

So yeah we've been already practicing that for years.

Chile's new president elect, Augusto Pinochet, is a right-winger who leans towards more open markets. This could mean fresh opportunities for Canadian companies looking to invest in the resource-rich country.
