Granted, I think it other places outside of the US that would be less than happy, but yeah he is putting himself in harms way without a doubt. Gleenwald is obviously a very stubborn individual, so I could him making a stand until they finally break down the door in the middle of the night.

Greenwald's husband occupies the exact same position Marielle Franco did when she was murdered: city council in Rio as an openly socialist, LGBT representative. She was murdered a few months ago by likely police forces, no one has ever been arrested for it, and Bolsonaro supporters like to take pictures of themselves breaking signs in her honor. Not only that, but banners in her honor were removed from universities last week by police who claimed that that was illegal political campaign in public buildings. So yeah, pretty big target.

Now, keep in mind that Neera Tandem and her sycophants just absolutely love to attack Greenwald because he lives in a gated community in Rio.

To me the danger of Clinton running is she will do her usual tricks and seed the narrative with slander about her primary opponents through her surrgates. I remember when suddenly the election thread all suddenly decided Bernie was sexist and racist seemingly out of nowhere not to mention the Obama stuff from 2008.

Look the Democratic primary picks literally the best possible candidate which is why it's selected one Presidencial winner in a little over two decades.

It's pretty clear Clinton is implying the interviewer is racist with that comment. The issue is it's a classic Clinton self own. Out of context and on paper it reads like she's just making a racist statement that the interviewer is now correcting her on (instead of the reverse like she's intending) and that's mainly how people will see it, not in the video. Additionally it's only going to make that interview go hostile or at the very best not friendly and when your relationship with the media is already dogshit you don't need to be making more enemies.

It's just her absolute lack of any political sense that has marked the entirely of her political career not involving back room deals.

Clearly the joke is at the expense of the interviewer, but Clinton saying it is just weird given her past of owning slaves and the whole colored people time joke. And of course super predators. It’s something she should stay clear from.

I’ve seen people arguing that the clip of Hillary and her interview was her mocking the interviewer and not her saying they actually look alike which makes sense to me in terms of the tone she used but shifts the “lmao this is very bad” to the interviewer imo.

Yeah it's exactly what she's doing but if you just read the transcript it absolutely looks like she's being corrected by the interviewer. She has no sense whatsoever for how things can be perceived (another recent example was her defence of her husband) which is impressive for her decades of experience.

Trabisnikof

That’s still an example of Hillary being a lovely lovely politician. That’s a city council level mistake, it doesn’t matter if technically she was mocking someone else you don’t let the words “they all look the same” come out of your mouth.

I mean people flub all the time and mix up names.

Jumping right to "heh they all look the same right" is a racist-rear end joke and I don't think "no I was suggesting maybe she thinks that" is any excuse in 99% of situations because you're still leaning on racist tropes for humor

Maybe if you think the other person is a racist and you're dunking on their shittiness but why accept an interview from someone like that

Hillary's 2020 primary run is going to be amazing. It's clear she's done zero work on how to actually do public appearences and also still super bitter about her loss. She also is probably still stuck in her "we need to be rationally in the center" outlook that almost no one is interested anymore in the wake of Republicans going all in on fascism. What is she even going to sell now that her electability lie has been shattered?

Maybe, but given her history of providing sweet soundbites to the opposition by saying poo poo that sounds really bad with only minor changes to the context, you'd think she'd have spent some time working on that bad habit while she was hiding out in the woods. In general, sarcastically saying a racist thing in order to imply that the person you're responding to was being racist is a risky gambit for an old white person.

I don't disagree per se, but when I first watched the video I didn't think she was being sarcastic at all. Which perhaps proves your point.

Like, her whole deal in 2016 was that she had everything set in place for her dream run (albeit 8 years later than she'd have liked), had every possible institutional advantage, and attempted to go for the perfect run specifically running up the tally so she could claim the popular vote... and turned out to fail absolutely miserably against a candidate she should have been able to making a laughing stock of. Her political instincts and those of her staff could not have been more off base... well, we've all been over this. The point is that absolutely nothing we know about Hillary would suggest the ability for the introspection required to not repeat her mistakes, especially since running in the first place was one. She's a nepotism case taken way too far.

Yeah, while it's obvious that's what she means, it's also super pointlessly hostile; she clearly was not happy with the relatively critical tone of the interviewer and was lashing out because of it. So it's less a racism thing on her part than an "entitled rich white lady who can't cope with people not praising her" one.

I mean, the line between that and 'racism only veiled compared to an entitled rich white man' is barely visible to the naked eye in the first place.
