One smart thing I have to give to to the GOP, which is probably just lizard brained instinct, is to be proactively attacking socialism at this stage of the game. The progressive movement and youths are falling harder and harder to the deep left and the DNC can't even pick up on it lmfao.

triple sulk posted:i still think the generation is far too broad compared to previous ones and that there are realistically two generations of millennials, with the starting point of 80-83 depending on what you pick up to 90/91, and 91/92-2000 or thereabouts. technology evolved way too much and people born in 82 have absolutely nothing in common with people who were born in 2000 beyond falling into the window where climate change will consume them both I can get on board with the idea of splitting the cohort, both because of american culture and internet usage. Some people currently grouped as millennials have memory of what America was like prior to 9/11, and can speak to the change that occurred as a result: airport security theatre, the rise in hate crimes and xenophobia, etc. The younger millennials, who grew up and became cognizant in a "post-9/11 world" have only ever known America as a hateful cesspool, and are keenly aware of it because they've been exposed to the opinions of our loudest bigots constantly through social media. You could probably pare this down even further, looking at the evolution of specific social media platforms and specific cultural movements throughout the years that are presently used to define the millennial cohort: there's a big different, say, between someone whose first cell phone was a Motorola Razor and who used Facebook or Myspace in 2005, versus someone whose first cell phone was an iPhone and was introduced to Facebook or Twitter in 2010.

They are really good at marking future possible Dem party leaders early and tearing them down early. Started tearing into Hillary in early 90s.
