for anyone in Brazil looking to get active in organizing against Bolsonaro, Liberdade, Socialismo e Revolução is the sister party of Socialist Alternative in the US. they are a tendency within PSOL, heres their website https://www.lsr-cit.org/

Kurtofan posted:The israel worship is really weird to me There's probably any number of angles pro-Zionist support can come from for Brazil and Bolsonaro. The big one being getting in good with the current US President. Israel is a borderline Ethno-Fascist state itself so it's not all that surprising. The only difference is their group of choice is the Jewish people and their group of exploitation and derision are Palestinians and other Muslim groups.

These business dudes that are openly leaning hard on Bolsonaro like the Havan dude probably didn't follow closely what's happening on the US regarding Trump's businesses. Associating their business to Bolsonaro might affect sales, especially since stores like Havan focus on cheaper items. That could (emphasis on could) lead to mass store closures and closer scrutiny on their businesses.

Most of these nationalist types don't really want to genocide other ethnicities. They are happy if they just leave. Israel, with it's right of return, is a great example of a "Look, you people have your own country to go to." I'm sure that if an African country offered instant citizenship to anyone of African descent, I bet plenty of American and European countries would support it and sing it's praises, hoping their own African populations will emigrate. And historically, fascists tend to be fine with other fascists. So long as they stay on their side of the border.

Besides, beyond hardcore Nazi types and evangelical nutjobs, anti-semitism is mostly make believe cynical window dressing used by fascist leaders who need a scapegoat for their rank and file to blame for how badly they are doing in life because they can't blame it on black and brown people when most of them are even worse off than them, so they create the myth of a nebulous millionaire jewish cabal that is actually pushing the white working man down to stop them from getting mad at the rich white people doing the actual pushing.

There's a couple of steps missing here. - According to the vice-president elect yesterday, Moro met with Guedes (the Bolsonaro campaign's finance guy) during the campaign and was told he'd be invited for the ministry. - 6 days before the 1st round Moro released the testimony of Lula's old finance minister. Testimony that had been rejected by the prosecutors in charge of it for being unsubstantiated, but was the main news for quite a few days.

I'm gonna suggest to any Brazil goons who plan on staying in their country to read up on mutual aid stuff. Protests and violence probably aren't going to change anything materially at this point, the right is too united in its moment of triumph and will just gun everybody who resists down, but mutual aid networks will help get you and those you care about through the next few years while the country goes down the shitter.

Hey my friend in Brazil was able to recover all of their stolen items from their mugging. Now they're afraid of reprocussion from the criminals but she used Facebook to find them and they're hilariously inept mobile game scammers as well new inspired street thieves. They've been arrested but they found a half dozen people's stuff from a couple of nights. Anyways we're looking into a fiance visa because we are rad people together. Friends and I are about to talk to a lawyer. Siljmonster has issued a correction as of 01:04 on Nov 2, 2018 |

I like how people are treating bolsonaro as a hero for yielding to social media pressure regarding his recent streak of poo poo decisions (note that it's been less than a week since he was elected). It's not like he's gonna keep making terrible decisions forever because he's a garbage person and by 2019 people will stop caring enough to call him out, right?

It's like when people write that "this is when he became presidential" bullshit when President Goodbrains says something nice during a two-second break from being a complete dipshit waste of life. Status quo folks can't handle the idea that their people elected a complete moron/mass murderer, so they're super eager to proclaim that, really, said moron is just another politician. All Bolsonaro has to do is occasionally say something normal or respectable, and these people will immediately posit it as proof that nothing has actually changed. This is why it's so easy to ride the slippy slide all the way to fascism. A lot of people can't accept it's happening.
