ex post facho posted:lol to cover my wife and myself with short term major medical health insurance with a maximum cap (lmao) of $1m this insurance company wants $506 a month. $10k deductible. 20% co-insurance after deductible. this does not include dental or vision and excludes pre-existing conditions. yeah. my wife and i were in the same scenario last month. her old work was the source of our insurance because my work doesn't offer it to anyone. she got hired at a new place and started in early october, so we didn't have insurance until nov 1. since we don't have kids, we just went the "lol hope we don't have a heart attack or get into a car accident" route and got by the month without issue. we know we're lucky in that we can just skip a month of coverage and hope for the best for-profit health care is evil and health care should not be tied to being employed or being too poor and/or old

The first black lawyer and elected politician came from there. The region's biggest farms were under black ownership. It took a long history of pogroms to undo that and bottle blacks in the cities. Theres a new book about it I'll see if I can find the title.
