Like, it's fine that they wanted to make a Diablo mobile game. The problem is they told everyone "hey we're making a new Diablo game" without mentioning that crucial detail.

I just adore the fact that there's a GIGANTIC FLASHING SIGN there now that says "YOU ARE TOO TALL YOU WILL gently caress YOUR poo poo" and there are still people going "meh, this'll fit."

I think the problem is it says “OVERHEIGHT MUST TURN”. It’s meant to be a command, but I think people are reading it as “If you are overheight, you must turn” and not knowing their height.

Maybe change it to “YOU ARE TOO TALL. TURN!”

It was built quite a long while ago and the bridge is a train bridge through a city. That would be madly expensive and inconvenient to fix so they don't. I think it would also be an engineering nightmare to lower the road given how many buildings are just kind of right against the thing. It's an old area so the cost would just be plain too expensive and it would involve shutting down important transportation lines. Apparently the bridge usually claims one victim a month at most as most people are not colossally stupid. I guess that road has signs a few blocks up warning you that it's coming so only the most oblivious try to get through.

I think another thing is that the bridge never kills anybody it just occasionally wrecks a trailer so it just isn't a high priority.

This is part of it, also people don't read signs anyway and/or think they don't apply to them.

It's worded incredibly stupidly for something designed very carefully and specifically to solve this exact one-off problem, but even so the sign could say YOU, YES YOU IN THE YELLOW PENSKE VAN, WITH THE MOUSTACHE AND BLUE HAT, YOUR VEHICLE IS TOO TALL AND WILL CRASH IN 5... 4.... 3....

and they would still barrel right through because they are on a moving day and probably thinking about lots of stressful things like the breakup they're in the middle of, anything but processing information being fed to them by a sign.

They pretty clearly stated that they won't be announcing Diablo 4 at Blizzcon so everyone who expected that is a loving idiot.
They said they were working on "Diablo related projects" so best case scenario was a new addon for D3 or a Diablo 1 or 2 remaster.

Not trying to defend their decision to make a mobile game but they pretty much told everyone to calm down before announcing anything. But the moment they said anything about Diablo the internet just went rabid...you know as it does and as they should have been expecting.

The schadenfreude is both on fans who talked themselves into it being a stealth Diablo 4 announcement (or similar), and also on Blizzard for getting up on stage and doing a big reveal for a palette swap licensed mobile game.

That anyone at Blizzard thought that would be anything other than a gigantic wet fart is downright hilarious.

As Trump Spreads A Fog Of Falsehoods, His Fans Believe Them And Make Excuses For Him

quote:

...awaiting Trump’s rally at Pensacola airport, Gene Ponder, a high school government and politics teacher in Daphne, Alabama, wound up arguing that there was no real difference between having built a wall and falsely claiming to have built one.

“It’s a matter of semantics,” he said, and pointed out that falsely claiming to have built a wall was an effective campaign tool. “It’s wonderful campaigning for the Republican Party in congressional seats around the country, to stimulate the base.”
