I mean I can get why because I think that any locker room stuff from 2000 was going to border on the talent and management both being highly unprofessional and be unfavorable in nature of the coverage, and no one was going to admit to any of it.

Vampiro, for one, has spilled on the locker room party culture, because WCW didn't define his career and he doesn't have anything to lose by doing so. But the problem there is that you're taking Vampiro's word on anything.

They actually did...but only for 1st version of his heel theme which only lasted for two weeks but was immortalized in the Smackdown: Just Bring It PS2 game.

I don't think so, it's been covered in depth elsewhere by people who know the subject better than I do, and I don't really disagree with any of the opinions on it. It's great.

So what's wrong with Ernest Miller? Was reading the last page of this thread and it reminded me of how the Death of WCW poo poo on him a lot.

All I remember about him was his great theme music.

Also has anyone in here discussed the best WCW entrance music? I think the only choices are Raven or Crow Sting but that's just me.

I think the dumbest thing they ever did with Ernest Miller was have James brown show up as a surprise guest at an Ernest Miller ppv dance segment or something or other. like an actual surprise, it wasn't announced at all before hand. on a ppv. that people aren't gonna scramble to pay for just for the chance to miss James brown.

he was never great but he had a charisma and physical presence to him. honestly in the pantheon of wcw midcarders, he's a more memorable face than most in the crowd.

I don't have a source on this, but I recall hearing the big problem was they'd tried to make the James Brown appearance happen several times and had it fall through at the last second because James Brown is James Brown and has poo poo to do and they didn't want to advertise it and risk having him change his mind at the last minute again.

which raises the question of why they were doing it in the first place, but, y'know

Yes, the American Males theme song has been brought up several times. :v:

Seriously though, I always really liked the Four Horsemen theme. Then there's a lot of fun silly stuff like the Disco Inferno, 3 Count and West Texas Rednecks themes, and some of the production library tracks like DDP's and Jericho's themes were pretty enjoyable as well despite being obvious ripoffs of actual songs.

edit: oh poo poo I forgot the loving Wolfpac, I might wind up in a body bag

I've got a pocket full of cheese🧀, and a garden full of trees🌴.

What I always loved about Ernest "the cat" Miller was how at the start of his matches, he would arrogantly turn around and give his opponent 5 seconds to leave. The opponent would generally stay and when the cat turned around he would get clobbered.

It was cool and good.

Miller showed a lot of actual physical promise in being a star of a wrestler when he debuted, but then kind of quickly stalled out at the lower midcard level.

Honestly, if there's really something "wrong" with Ernest Miller, its just that because he was the karate trainer of Eric Bischoff's son, he got into be more heavily featured than ultimately he really should have been in 1998 and 1999.

Alvarez really wasn't a big fan of Cat at all during this time, and started to call him "Shat" when writing about him in the F4W newsletter, so that might explain some of the negative coverage in Death of WCW.

At least by the time they got to 2000, they gave him the commissioner role, so he was no longer having to go out and wrestle every show and could just use his charisma, which was a step above.

Horrible wrestler and not at all up to the amount of talking he was given when he was made an authority figure. His run as heel commissioner in 2000 is all time bad stuff, which is coming off Bischoff and Russo in that role doing all time bad stuff.

By "poo poo", of course, you mean PCP. James Brown didn't know who he was or where he was for most of the '80s and '90s.

Or it could be actually good if they put MI Smooth in the role who wasn't mush mouthed like the Cat and didn't botch half of what he did in the ring. The Cat had forceful delivery and that was about it.

Yeah, he would have been fine if he'd stayed a low-to-midcard heel. But he didn't.

I'd even say that yeah, some of his stuff as commissioner was good. The bit where he likes karate fighting so much that spontaneous karate fights break out in his office was one of the better things I remember from WCW in its dying days. But a lot of it just...went on way too long.

Did Buff beat anybody in a real fight? Hurricane also beat his rear end.

Although, I will admit to a soft spot for Buff. He maybe could have been a decent midcard babyface when he came back from his neck injury if they didn't gently caress it up, and Vicious and Delicious and his team with Steiner were both ok.

They brought him back months early to ruin his career too. On top of that the swerves they did as part of that heel turn helped kill the shock value of a lot of poo poo they did later on.
