I know its a slight tangent, but octolapse has a setting for that. Also, it looks like a >20 hour print for something roughly the size of his hand, so the layer height is probably ridiculously fine

I tried to take a timelapse video of my last print but my goddamn cat kept attacking the printer and moved the camera around so it looks pretty lovely . I think i need to build an enclosure...

The print head doesn't return to 0 every layer normally, but octolapse plugin for octoprint adds G code to move the print head out of the way to take a picture every layer (or layers, it's configurable). Previous time lapse plugins would just take a picture every layer and you'd see the hotend whizzing around. It doesn't add a huge amount of delay but I don't really use it. Here's Gin. Watching this I like to think that's a mountain range to the top right and the little thing moving near the bottom is a horse. To which a friend of mine, who had the same exact thought, said "just goes to show how fractal nature's geometry can be."
