A few of the specialised treatment rooms have their own unique decorative items, make sure to scroll down. They should add more in patches or expansions. It's especially hilarious because the Clown Clinic is dressed up as a circus to lure in clowns before subjecting them to an Orb Foundation patented brainwashing device.

One thing I really appreciate over Theme Hospital is that here, treatments can fail and have no effect, without killing the patient. In original TH, even psychiatric treatments failing would kill the patient immediately. (Does that mean the psychiatrist drove the Elvis impersonator to commit suicide?)

IIRC a dead patient would either fly up to heaven as an angel or the devil would show up and open a hole to Hell in your floor that they'd fall into.

It's the Grim Reaper showing up, opening a pit to hell in the floor. That one's quite rare, I think I've only seen it a few times.

Okay, absolutely build multiple smaller wards (and fracture wards) rather than a single large. Two wards with 4 beds each never accumulated queue, a single ward with 8 beds quickly got 10 in queue and it isn't decreasing even with 5 nurses on staff (max).

do you have multiple changing screens in the big ward? to my knowledge that's the big bottleneck though i think the fact that only one person can pass through the door at a time is also a bottleneck. not sure if it takes a large size or not to reach that one though
|
# ? Oct 14, 2018 12:02 |
Yes, had four changing screens in the big ward. A big part of the problem seems to be that only one patient can be called in at a time. So three rooms can take in patients thrice as fast as a single room, even if their simultaneous capacity is the same. I think somewhere around 3-5 beds is the optimal per ward room.

Running a 12 month campaign for clowns, didn't expect it to become this popular. Good thing Jest Infection doesn't drain away at patients' health, they aren't going to die from waiting a few months for treatment. As long as they're happy having 20 queue for a single room isn't that bad. nielsm fucked around with this message at 13:15 on Oct 14, 2018 |

What map are you on? I know Tumble just has absolute poo poo loads of ward patients beyond what other maps have, for example. Usually 2-3 screens or plaster casters gets the job done for me, plus around 10 beds.

I did have a similar experience on Tumble too, where building multiple smaller wards let me have a better patient flow.

ninjewtsu posted:do you have multiple changing screens in the big ward? to my knowledge that's the big bottleneck The problem is that patients are morons (I feel like a broken record here, at least half my posts contain this phrase) and they'll head for the closest changing screen not caring for its queue, so you can have 5 patients waiting to use a single screen while the other three are empty. EDIT: and every now and then a surgeon or nurse decides to change in the ward and make the delay even worse You need to make sure there's a screen close to the ward entrance and then the other screens are closer to the beds than the one for the entrance, and beyond that there's nothing you can do about the entrance screen bottleneck. E: although a massive fracture ward with 8 beds and two plasters takes care of everything for me. Omobono fucked around with this message at 15:05 on Oct 14, 2018 |

The new patch is supposed to have fixed this some. I've def. seen the behavior where everyone ignores one of the changing screens though. It's very dependent on room layout.

I got right up to the last set of maps and don't wanna re-learn stuff with my doctors, is it fun to start over with a new save file? Though some more feature patches would be nice there.

ninjewtsu posted:I definitely have my patients split up fairly evenly between my various changing screens though? Maybe the patch fixed it, I got 3-stars everywhere before it came out. At launch, all patients entering the ward would go for the changing screen closest to the door. Patients leaving beds would go for the screen closest to their bed.

I played a ton of this when it came out because I love Theme Hospital, and shelved it after not long. I know there's been a bunch of updates and improvements since, so I'm looking to pick it up again and start over. Is there a good list of like QoL mods that are must haves to just make some of the management less annoying?

Oh yeah, screenshots of the Halloween graphics for those who didn't check the game during the period: Also, the Dog paintings all had goo spraying out their eyes. And Lightheadedness used a pumpkin lamp instead of an electric bulb.

Shortening the number of trips that takes will make everything smoother. Also you can copy rooms. There's some QoL supposedly coming for like, saved room layouts and such.

Patch out: https://steamcommunity.com/games/535930/announcements/detail/1703943496325807119quote:Hi everyone, Sandbox is cool and all but the ability to specify diagnosis or treatment is fab. I'm hoping for being able to designate GP rooms for initial diagnoses or follow-up care next. Also the epidemic fix will make those 'failed epidemic through no fault of your own' moments less frequent.

Radiation Cow posted:I haven't played this since release. Did the queue issues get fixed or mitigated? There's a new set of options called Policy. It lets you have diagnosis send people directly to treatment if they hit a certain diagnosis threshold (which is also adjustable) without returning to a GP's office. It's ridiculous how much this fixes the GP queues. Please note that this is set per hospital and needs to be implemented every time. Overall great DLC easily worth the $8 I paid and just a ton of fun to play more. More radio lines, more announcer lines, just straight more content and it all caries the same fun as the original game.
