Isn't it like, super hard to get Diablo 1 running on modern hardware?

Diablo and all the loot grind games of its ilk are slot machines with no monetary payout and sometimes less gameplay than actual slots

At one point I tried to play 2 again but it was just boring. I can only right click on monsters so long, guys. In this case the funniest thing is that, well, didn't Blizzard specifically say that they weren't announcing Diablo 4 or a new PC Diablo game ahead of time? Then a bunch of angry nerds got angry anyway even though they were specifically not promised what they wanted.

Diablo 1 had a nice atmosphere going for it, the soundtrack was great and there wasn't any needless cinematic lore to ignore. I can't even imagine how lovely it must be today but back then it packed a good punch. The OST is still great.

I can run in Diablo II.

The Playstation version of Diablo has running of sorts, it speeds up the game which makes it better than the PC version. The 2 player mode is also on par with Battle.net in fun factor since you can wing fireballs at your little brother that'll instantly kill him. The PC gaming community gets mad when they reveal a Diablo phone game but Diablo 1 and 3 were better as Playstation games anyway. Trust me, I cheat like a motherfucker on Battle.net and they're powerless to stop me. I thought the issue was that a lot of assets needed to do it are lost.

Brood War refuses to die even though no one gives a poo poo about the RTS genre anymore and enough of the assets were still around that they could do it. If Blizzard ever gives any attention to the first WarCraft games or Diablo 1, it will be something that makes them playable in Windows 10 and nothing else will be done.

Mak0rz posted:Oh yes. Playing Diablo about six months after its release was an audio/visual Experience. It looked high-res, nearly photorealistic to me, gritty and haunted as hell. I played it only when my dad wasn't able to hear it since we were a pretty churchy bunch and he would not have cottoned to such a thing. I remember playing through it the first time, getting destroyed by the Butcher, grumbling and creating a new character, and my jaw dropping as I realized an entirely new level had been created from scratch. That said, I did get bored and never finished it. I get sucked in pretty good by loot clicker games, but burn out after a hot couple weeks. I only understand the Diablo series as a loot-clicker with a great soundtrack. It's not that great of a franchise, but to each his own.

I recognise how unexciting this is, but it amuses me how the only labelled item in the cover picture that might still be in an office is the plain yellow envelope. (And the code isn't even in Word 365.)

The letter stickers were meant for a catalogue number or something; you just wrote the title on the label(s).

If I remember right, in Windows 7 you had to kill explorer when you started Diablo 1 due to how Windows handled DirectDraw. In Windows 10 it seems you can just install it and play the game as is... Though i'm having issues with it just randomly closing.

I bought and listened to Cyberpunk around 1997, and one takeaway from the video that describes the album's appeal is its utter sincerity. By 1997, I'd lived through, identified with, and enjoyed a hell of a lot of sneering in music, and Cyberpunk rounded that out a bit. I think Mother Dawn was the first song that I straight up loved that I could also simultaneously acknowledge how incredibly lame it was.

It's cool to have a record that is a direct copy of someone's voice and not copied off a tape. I listen to mine every once in a while.
