Holy poo poo. I just joined a raid group a month ago and never had anything remotely like that happen. Everyone I’ve raided with has been pretty cool. Worst I’ve seen was someone pulling into an ex raid i was at with a “1 man & 1 woman = marriage” bumper sticker. Which as a lesbian with my wife there, was a little gross to see. But luckily we had way too many people and he was in a different raid group, so we just kept our distance. No idea if he’s actually as repulsive as the bumper sticker implies. But this is Florida so...probably.

It amazes me to see people having such bad experiences. I just walked a few blocks from my house to finally get a Shinx (it seems like the only one star raids we get here are Shuppet) and it started pouring down rain. Another player had driven up to raid and she offered to let me sit in her car. I declined though because I was almost done and I don't think she had any free candy

Last year I got death threats twice (irl and online) from some guy who was pissed that I was feeding my Blissey that he was attacking. The consequence was that they kicked me out of the group for causing trouble, because I complained about the death threats, one of which was made in that group. Some quite lovely people play this game in some areas!

Buizel is now in 1* raids. So maybe shiny? It's so frustrating they update the game in such a way that Europe's raids are done, so we just miss out for the first 8 or so hours.

This Cubone/Pontya sorta-event has shredded my entire stock of Pokeballs. Saturday I had 360ish before collecting my walking reward. Now I’m town to ten.

From what I overheard while walking they all know each other by name and are engaged in this massive years long war to be the first to get a gold badge in each gym in town or something. One guy talked about how he drives 30 minutes every day to take a gym back from one of his rivals. It was like listening to guys who are really hardcore into tabletop gaming rant about WW-era tanks or something.

I want to inject posts like these directly into my veins. I would have honestly considered hitting the guy after the second time.

Planned to take down this gym on my way home when I noticed something: All shiny! In appreciation, I left it be and decided to catch the bus that pulled up instead. Oddly, the driver stopped me from paying when I got on. Maybe one of the shinies were his and he wanted to thank me for not attacking?

I just don't get how insane people are about weird discord rules. We have two different servers in our area for...I don't know why really. I think there was a falling out with people back when spoofing was easy. Many of the same people are on both servers. The only rule we have is don't be a spoofer and that's it. Plenty of us will catch stuff on our kids accounts so they can keep up, or have an alt account, because it's often hard to pull a group together especially once raid fatigue sets in on most of the mediocre bosses. slapping a phone out of someone's hand seems like a good way to get punched in the face in most areas.

Got loving Deoxys, woot! We had two groups battle, I think most caught him, and I traded a lady a Donphan for a Ponyta because she desperately wanted to stop walking her Phanpy and I had like 8 Donphans. I'd rather trade off the high evolves rather than trash them.

It all depends on who forms it first, and unfortunately you might get these like stereotypical PTA level power-hungry people who want to hold power in anything and love enforcing rules where there doesn't need to be any. I don't think there was anyone like that in my area, but I also think I was lucky that some people in the greater county area formed the Discord server so there wasn't a need for anyone to make something from the ground up in our town. It helps that the home base that started it is a college town two towns over and people there are less likely to be dicks or weird small town people that would start their own little Mean Girls/Plastics clique with rules. People from the town the other way down the highway weren't as fortunate though. The more advanced people started their group on Telegram instead of Discord and most people find Discord easier to use. Most casual players from that town come to my town instead for community day or when new raid bosses are released because the Telegram clique is very exclusive from what I hear and refuse to let people into their raids unless they're members. Everyone in my town is happy to give out our Discord server invite and the worst things that ever happen are some people upset over not getting help for a raid when they really want to raid. We just tell them to chill out because people have work or irl poo poo to do and it's never because we snubbed someone on purpose. They either get over it or we just kinda stop seeing them post.

Our local discord rules are basically be nice, if you arrive late to a raid, tough poo poo unless people feel like backing out, and don't accuse people of spoofing unless you have proof. Even then, talk to the mods first. No one seems to have problems with multi-accounting. There is absolutely no code of conduct for Gyms, which results in some seriously salty people. If the game lets you do it, go for it.

Went out on Halloween hoping to find a shiny duskull, got a shiny sableye. Caught a random shiny shellder, my second, a few days ago. Really really wanted a shiny ponyta, got a shiny Cubone/marowak instead. So, yay? Good problems. I would trade any of these for a shiny Eevee in a heartbeat.
