I am not a D&D poster, but I enjoy the way you guys all us this thread to post relevant news.. just sometimes it’s 800 posts of nonsense. I'll still be doing tweet dumps which are a) unignorable because I'm a mod and people got really really irate about not being able to just skip over them which I find hilarious and b) I have time to do them not as canvassing/phonebanking is over and Patel lost by 20+ points. edit: I'm adding the bookmarklet from the previous thread that only shows pictures/youtubes/tweets in posts.

Is there an analysis of the positions of the incoming House Dems? I'm curious if there are more Pelosi-style centrists or if we could be potentially be looking at a Democratic version of the Freedom Caucus.

Take a break but it’s going to take a long time to make change last. My biggest issue with last night is how the it appears the lesson learned by Beto, Gillum, and Abrams' loss is that the Dems need to run more centrist candidates. But centrists lost in Indiana, Missouri, and North Dakota yet no talking head breathed a word of that. Pelosi and Schumer need to learn that the battle lines have been drawn. There are not enough true independents (most have taken a side, but want to pretend they haven't) or Eisenhower Republicans left to make a difference. What drives victory is motivating your base and a centrist "Republican-Lite" is demotivating. Republicans learned this with Gingrich and later the Tea Party, why can't our leadership understand.

Hello thread. You might not know me, I'm Al Borland Corp, a limited liability poster. I am from the now defunct Trump thread. I look forward to sharing with you my thoughts, opinions, and insights! I had a fun time voting in Alabama last night. Every candidate I voted for lost, and every ballot initiative I voted for went the opposite way! Oh man what a silly state. The Al is short for Alabama, not everyone knows that.

The one thing that confuses me a little is how the Democrats not winning in traditional pure red hellscapes like Texas and Georgia is being treated as some kind of proof of living in the hellworld by some people. Like, going into this the Senate was a 10:1 longshot for the Dems even accounting for the favorable polling, just because of which seats were up this time around. The Democrats accomplished what they could plausibly do: massively boost turnout over normal midterm elections, comfortably retake the house, and get a bunch of state/local government wins. The popular vote margin was like +9 or something, which even with all the electoral problems baked into our system means that 2020 is an apocalyptic loss for Trump. Especially since the GOP specifically tanked in a bunch of the narrow win states that let Trump win the electoral college in the first place. Everyone was afraid of an unforced D flub leading to a 2016 replay and that emphaticaly didn't happen.

Like 40% of african american males couldn't vote in 2016 or last night, by statistics alone that should help out a ton. to answer my own question in the midterm thread. Is this a blue wave or is it the result of trump wins in 2016 being reversed? Flipped R 2016, held 2018: FL-2 FL-18 NA-2 Flipped D 2016, held D 2018: FL-7 FL-10 FL-13 IL-10 NV-4 NH-1 NJ-5 VA-4 None of the R pickups in 2016 went back in 2018. This is more accurately viewed as the aftermath from the Obamacare slaughter of 2010, with the early-decade gerrymanders breaking down.

The election results weren't nearly good enough to check the march towards fascism to any real degree, and Trump is just going to rule by way of executive orders and stuffing the courts with chuds that will uphold the legality of anything he decides to do. Also Bad Dems in the House are going to collaborate enough with the GOP to put 2020 in serious jeopardy. And anybody who insists that you should just close your eyes to all this and just be happy is a moron of the highest caliber.
