I've been replaying DXMD cause why not? I was doing the Neuroplasticity Calibrator quest, and as I'm sneaking around I toss a gas grenade into the huge crowd in the casino lobby, start looting the bodies, and... one of those guys was Otar. I remembered you're supposed to just walk in the front door and talk to him. He's not dead, but what does this affect?

I think he no longer calls you later.

I remember reloading a save after convincing him to give me the poo poo but with me taking his 'favors' and being like 'gently caress DA MOB AND THEIR FAVORS!' I broke in and just stole the thing via sneaking. You just don't get like two later quests about helping him replace the blonde poo poo brother or whoever.

Also DXMD is great. I just wish it was longer because really, it's fun.

It just had a terrible intro and most gamers are not insane DX fans that explore every drat vent or doing super slow sneaksie Thief ways of play, so the game's main quest seemed super short for them.

Yeah I think it is underrated, even the beginning stuff does get paid off, it just takes a while. Boss guys aussie acting really is inexcusable though.

Yeah, DXMD is a great game, but I think the incredibly confusing story and relatively uninteresting characters rightfully soured a lot of people on it as a whole; the fact that it craps on the infinitely more appealing DXHR and everything/everyone in it didn't help either. Also Sarif finally got that cold treated and I don't like it :colbert:

Also, as much as I hate to toss ~2 hours of progress, I think I need to reload and unfuck Otar's quests. I'm specifically doing a 100% pacifist all books/software/triangles run and I can't really afford to throw away a major questline, especially if there's items potentially gated behind it.

I remember being irritated by a lot of MD, little choices they made. Like how during martial law it's a drag backtracking for quests, and it seems like with blink you should be able to just race across rooftops, but you can't because they're out of bounds. And how you have all these lethal toys but almost nobody to use them on -- the game could have really used a Belltower equivalent.

The basic gameplay remained really solid from HR, though, and the DLC missions were really good. I might want to give it another playthrough at some point.

I didn't mind Miller but it might've been a halo effect from the voice actor not exaggerating his Australian accent until it became a caricature like many do when appearing in American productions

I assumed he meant his acting otherwise than the accent. If he is complaining about the accent then yeah, I have to disagree; as an Australian I think Miller's accent was a completely normal Australian accent (which is unsurprising, given the actor is Australian, as you say).

he's a really bad actor, who is an australian, thus all of his bad acting (100%) is australian bad acting

Kinda reminds me of people complaining about Mark Wahlberg’s Boston accent in The Depahted.

MD was a lot of fun, though. It had story problems from being chopped up so much, but the hubs and level layout was top-notch and I liked the insane prototype augs.

I’ve just moved to Berlin, and I’ve probably said it before here, but the whole city gives me MD vibes with its similarities to Prague. Lots of ‘old eastern bloc architecture with sci-fi lighting feature bolted on’ all over the place.

I finally got around to it and the bank heist mission is so much more interesting plot-wise it's insane :psyduck:
Why is there even a choice? You should have played through both; the game is short enough as it is without cutting an entire mission each playthrough.

Fair point. I'd already cleaned out the bank on general principles, and I really liked the scene with crazy bomb lady.

I don't know about short though, I'm on like sixty hours and haven't finished yet, though I've been taking my time.

It's not necessarily short, the story is just butchered. There's an chunk missing that shows up as a dlc, obviously cut out, and also there's no ending.

Tarvos and Palisade both feel like they could have easily been in the game.

The Pent House mission doesn't really fit, but it does fit in the overall alleged story line of the trilogy of games that Mankind Divided was originally supposed to be: that apparently Jensen is a clone with implanted memories, and the entire Criminal Past DLC was implanted to test his memory of it and whether or not he'd turn on supposed allies.

I’ve played both revision and Gem Dicks (gmdx) and both are quite good. Revision is more of an extreme makeover while GMDX is more like “deus ex +” but I highly enjoyed both.

That's weird, I didn't have any of those issues. If I had to deal with all of that BS I'd probably hate it too. Any chance it wasn't installed correctly, or there were other mods installed at the same time that interfered?
