Generally in the ballpark of 5-600, but that assumes you put everything together right and have a way to tune it. And $1300 of ebay garbage is going to cost a lot more to actually get to fit and work properly and then the turbo will probably explode on the first pull.

That's one of the albums I can't listen to anymore because it was so overplayed I got entirely sick of it. The Bon Scott albums are way better anyways imo.

I trust your word but I had no idea it would approach that. Wow.

Any thoughts on timing belt and one giant turbo cost? This motor is supposed to take insane boost on stock internals right? I’m kinda ready to go full retard.

$5k allin with new tires too would kinda be my artificial limit

It's a ford laser with tx3 headlights (based on the mazda 323). It's what we got in australia from ford australia/mazda japan instead of things like euro fords after we stopped getting RWD escorts and cortinas etc around 1982. We didn't get 80s/90s escorts, or fiesta and sierra from Europe at all.
Ford AU was tied to whatever mazda were making and licensing/partnering until the focus, later gen fiesta and mondeo.
80s/90s Ford festiva was the mazda 121, Ford laser/meteor was the mazda 323, Ford telstar was the 626. E: This was back when ford owned about 40-49% of mazda and it's a lot closer to ship knock down kits from Japan to Australia.
Ford Australia just made falcons and rebadged CKDs from Mazda

I had a few e5 engined 323s as run arounds, but never a b6 or bp. I used the be a mazda boy, rotaries for fun on the weekends, a 323 (or a spare 808) for a daily. I also did have a few falcons for whenever I just wanted to pick up stumps and drive cross country for funs, but a pre 1997 falcon is a very boring thing not worth paying the petrol costs on for a daily so those falcons always got flipped when I was done with them.
A few people I know got GTXs but I lost contact with them over 10 years ago. Falcons got cheap and fun since anyway, and BMWs seem cool and fun.

I think dj commie here is the only 323 enthusiast left here, though sgt fox has a good thread sticking a v6 in one. Not sure if the USA got the mazda ford thing, kind of seems like it but they called them escorts over there? I think?

Well thank you for sparing me the effort post! But it is a TX3. Not the 4 door regular version. The GL is a four door.

This poor TX3 hasn't got the Mazda chrome bits like door handles...yet.

'poo poo' TX3 owns on the 'lapping' loop through town. Proper 4WD version. The FWD tarted up version is in threads in the past. The gearbox blew out in eyesight of us seeing off the buyer :P

There are no issues with the slab or foundation. The wall is a different problem that according to the contractor, is very fixable.

quote:

The gypsum board was found to be bulging out on both sides of the existing stair wall (see
photos 6 & 7). This wood stud wall is directly above the basement wall. The existing first
floor framing in this area was found to be only slightly out of level. Note: The door leading
into the basement does not close properly. There was also a large gypsum board crack in
the doorway between the Kitchen and Dining Room above this basement wall (see photo 8).

Most likely, movement between the basement area and poured-in-place concrete slab
caused most of this movement. Possible compression of the wall stud framing may have
caused the bowing of the existing gypsum board. The movement documented appears to
have been present for many years and no active movement was observed. Our office
recommends removing the bulging gypsum board on both sides of the wall and replacing
with new. The door leading to the basement should also be re-set so it operates properly.

The contractor they've had look at it says they would demo out the drywall, and then lift the wall slightly so they can lay in a new base board. This will cause a few more cracks but they will be fixing the existing ones as well as any new cracks that form. He also thinks this will remedy the door issue.

Having the repair done before we take possession is one of the last things we requested. They initially wanted us to get an estimate and they'd write us a check but I wanted it done before we get keys. Our realtors are bouncing that back and forth right now. Original close date was the 21st, we wanted to push back to Dec 2nd so everything on the list could be done. They're writing us a check for the minor things (that I and my friends can do) but this one I've been pretty hard on. They want to push closing up but we'll see what monday brings.

The guy who was going to paint for us can't fit us in until January so we're going to paint the essential rooms ourselves the week after we get keys and then start moving in.

Yeah, almost all the Escorts were Mazda BG chassis through the 90's and the GTs got the BP so they were lots of fun. We had 323s as well but no BP option unfortunately, the four door BG chassis (Protege) got the BP instead. Even the early Kia Sephia was a BG chassis with a Korean built BP, I had one and it was fun until the interior started disintegrating.

I was a huge 323/BG nerd but the cars just aren't around anymore, they were disposable cars pretty much, not many people took interest in them so they are mostly gone now. SGT Fox's 323 is amazing, if anyone hasn't checked out his thread yet you need to.
