A golden helix streaked skyward from the Helvault. A thunderous explosion shattered the silver monolith and Avacyn emerged, free from her prison at last.

Isn't it like, super hard to get Diablo 1 running on modern hardware?

Part of the reason why I like the first game so much is that it's very much not like this at all.

Yeah, they were fun for a bit but I didn't even play Diablo 3. At one point I tried to play 2 again but it was just boring. I can only right click on monsters so long, guys.

In this case the funniest thing is that, well, didn't Blizzard specifically say that they weren't announcing Diablo 4 or a new PC Diablo game ahead of time? Then a bunch of angry nerds got angry anyway even though they were specifically not promised what they wanted.

Diablo 1 had a nice atmosphere going for it, the soundtrack was great and there wasn't any needless cinematic lore to ignore. I can't even imagine how lovely it must be today but back then it packed a good punch. The OST is still great.

The Playstation version of Diablo has running of sorts, it speeds up the game which makes it better than the PC version. The 2 player mode is also on par with Battle.net in fun factor since you can wing fireballs at your little brother that'll instantly kill him.

The PC gaming community gets mad when they reveal a Diablo phone game but Diablo 1 and 3 were better as Playstation games anyway.

They were certain that the other thing was a Diablo 2 remaster. Which is silly to think they're competent enough to manage that, when regular Diablo 2 is still broken. Trust me, I cheat like a motherfucker on Battle.net and they're powerless to stop me.

I thought the issue was that a lot of assets needed to do it are lost.

That's never happening. Brood War refuses to die even though no one gives a poo poo about the RTS genre anymore and enough of the assets were still around that they could do it. If Blizzard ever gives any attention to the first WarCraft games or Diablo 1, it will be something that makes them playable in Windows 10 and nothing else will be done.

I’m pretty sure they’ve got the source code.

I think the problem is they don’t know how to do anything with it, since it was made by Blizzard North, which doesn’t exist anymore and there’s probably zero Blizzard North guys left on the payroll.

Playing Diablo about six months after its release was an audio/visual Experience. It looked high-res, nearly photorealistic to me, gritty and haunted as hell. I played it only when my dad wasn't able to hear it since we were a pretty churchy bunch and he would not have cottoned to such a thing.

I remember playing through it the first time, getting destroyed by the Butcher, grumbling and creating a new character, and my jaw dropping as I realized an entirely new level had been created from scratch.

That said, I did get bored and never finished it. I get sucked in pretty good by loot clicker games, but burn out after a hot couple weeks. I only understand the Diablo series as a loot-clicker with a great soundtrack. It's not that great of a franchise, but to each his own.

If I remember right, in Windows 7 you had to kill explorer when you started Diablo 1 due to how Windows handled DirectDraw.

In Windows 10 it seems you can just install it and play the game as is... Though i'm having issues with it just randomly closing.

Yeah, I finally watched it. I bought and listened to Cyberpunk around 1997, and one takeaway from the video that describes the album's appeal is its utter sincerity. By 1997, I'd lived through, identified with, and enjoyed a hell of a lot of sneering in music, and Cyberpunk rounded that out a bit. I think Mother Dawn was the first song that I straight up loved that I could also simultaneously acknowledge how incredibly lame it was.
