Since the update to Mojave, iPhoto no longer has a share option to go to Flickr. I have Flickr Pro so I still rely on it (is there a way to post photos on boards directly from my iCloud photos? I dunno) and I need to reinstate this extension ability for Photos but can't find anything about it anywhere. Flickr has their auto uploader but I don't want to put my entire loving library on their site. Does anyone know how to get this ability back? I don't want to duplicate photos onto my desktop then drag them into the goddamned Flickr website.

I'm having a Mojave issue where the Dock will occasionally remain visible when I switch to a fullscreen app as if the cursor was at the edge of the screen; I can mouseover it and it'll go away when I move the cursor away but it's a bit annoying having to do this all the time. I was hoping that the 10.14.1 update would fix this but it hasn't; I've already tried doing a 'defaults delete com.apple.dock' and I'm not sure of the best next step.

Must say, as someone who uses the Windows News app on my work machine, the Apple News one seems soooo much nicer from first impressions. The MS one is pretty poo poo. That, dark mode, and the history of open apps on the dock are pretty much all I noticed mind, time to read a 100 page long ARS review I guess.

Wow, an Apple iWork update that doesn't poo poo on me because I'm one OS behind on this machine? Amazing! Before it was 'Move to Mojave or we'll never update your Keynote" or whatever.

Does Mojave offer any form of processor control app such as Intel XTU? I'd love to mess around with power settings and try things like disabling hyper threading to see what kind of an effect it plays on the thermals.

Why does Mojave no longer show hourly weather details in the notification sidebar? Do I have to configure something now, or did they straight up remove functionality?

Mine seems to be working fine. Delete and re-add the location?

Huh, that got it. Re-added one of the locations and they all started working.

I hate it when App Store says an update is only 207 bytes yet it takes five million years to install. Obviously the 207 bytes is just the URL stub for the actual binary..

How is Wipr on Mac OS? I've been using ublock origin, but I've noticed youtube ads starting to creep in. Does Wipr block youtube ads. Sorry if it's a dumb question - I read the FAQ on the site, but didn't see anything there.

I'm using Limechat over Textual because I'm cheap and didn't want to shell out for an IRC client. Textual is free. I don't know why people pay for it. Compiling it from source is trivial. That's why I'm not sure how anyone can say Textual is dead ...

Does anyone actually use (finder) tags and what tags do you use? Just trying to get an idea of how people use them. I've never been a tag person before but my way of organizing by directory hierarchy isn't working for me so I'm open to trying new things.

It’s useful because I run a Wordpress site locally and need quick access to specific directories inside it that would otherwise take a dozen clicks to reach. Besides that, tags aren’t really more useful than just sorting files into folders on my desktop. tankadillo fucked around with this message at 17:57 on Nov 12, 2018 |

I've used them sparingly in the past to tag assets for different design projects. Or to flag important files across the system so that I don't have to disturb my folder hierarchy.

I have a folder hierarchy that gets mirrored to a shared drive every day for collaboration and backup. This hierarchy is project based and not very useful to me. I use tags to quickly return to and track stuff that I’m working on and where it is in the publishing and review process, since that’s way more useful and I can’t just set up my folders that way.

You get the first two alarms set for free, after the third alarm it's $29.99 per alarm. 50 cents for every volume tick on the alarm, $1.00 per unanswered ring. I'ma be a billyun-aire.

My directory/naming structure makes sense for archiving but trying to access files takes “forever” to navigate to. Tewdrig posted:A subscription service and in-app-purchases, clearly. Look it costs money to run the server to keep track of your alarms. I mean that data could be stored on the device but then you won’t be using containerized kubernet cluster technology running my handcrafted with ♥️ node.js saas webapp. Also it’ll make gathering data about you to sell harder if you don’t constantly phone home.

Upgraded to Mac Server 5.7.1 trip report: - Software Updates tab is gone on the Advanced left sidebar. Client machines pointed to this server are now broken for updates. I can't seem to turn it back on: "" posted:sudo /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/sbin/serveradmin start swupdate - Also the actual directory access for sharing is gone under the server tab. It looks like I have to manually do a "Get Info" on every folder shared in the general share to change permissions now. No longer is it centralized in the Server app. Summary: 5.7.1 sucks. Basically even if they didn't explicitly depreciate poo poo they like moved it out of Server for the specific reason of killing the app?

I've never been a tag person before but my way of organizing by directory hierarchy isn't working for me so I'm open to trying new things. I use labels, but I think the tag system is kinda unnecessary, unless you're a BeOS refugee or something. Mostly I stick a label on things that are likely to get lost. For example, I have a ton of things in a screenshot folder, and there are probably a few I want to edit in some manner or another, so I stick a label on those so I'll know what I wanted to fiddle with later. Or maybe if I have a bunch of versions of something, I'll stick a label on the latest version. They're just little things that are useful to draw your eye to a particular file in the finder window. Of course, since they changed labels to tags, it's now just a single (or multiple, that's kinda a nice change) colored dot in list view, rather than the whole filename being colored. And that's not nearly as neat as turning your Macintosh HD icon blue, but that's how things work now. I could absolutely see tags being useful if you were really big on search and very conscientious about tagging things. The problem is, that's not really a sensible option unless you a) have very few files, or b) are just starting fresh.

I can't use Clementine anymore because I get this reopen loop, it keeps saying "clementine crashed unexpectedly..." If I say don't reopen it closes, if I say reopen it opens but repeats the same message. How can I fix this? Also is there an alternative to Clementine? Just a basic music player.
