We have our eye on someone and classical cafe for pretending we're more elegant than we actually are. Team "Vote Jury All the Time" stays strong!

The call of cake and sweets is very strong. To sugary delights! Telling someone there's no one is always a clue that there is someone and they always want to pry! Therefore, of course we like someone. But wait, isn't that what you say to the person you like? Ehhhh? Is there no right answer here??

I don't trust Chigusa so admitting we like someone sounds like she might target Juri. So say no. Also this series is pretty French themed so let us eat cake.

Chigusa is pretty interesting! I think we should be honest and tell her there's someone we've noticed. After all, even if I want to learn more about her, trying to game her like an otome character just seems to lose points. I also want to check out what sort of games are in a Revolutionary Gamer Arcade. EDIT: Also, it seems to me that asking if she has a boyfriend isn't positive for her because she's actually super heterosexual, but because she gets her femininity dismissed a lot and coming onto her as a girl just reads as another form of that to her. Given the emphasis on how boyish she looks when her art doesn't reflect that (except maybe? in height and sharpness of face?), I could definitely buy her as trans at this point, but given the series deconstruction of gender roles, that's not necessarily the case. Disclaimer that I'm cis, but I think in any conversation about gender roles, it's worth discussing how that relates to trans people, and how trans people relate to them. I've found that in the heavily LGBT communities I've been a part of, competing needs is something that comes up a lot, where a lack of gendered associations is freeing and comfortable for some people and extremely uncomfortable for others who are trying to signal something about their gender. It's not something I completely understand myself, but it's important to people. PetraCore fucked around with this message at 21:41 on Nov 19, 2018 |

Note that, her joke aside, she doesn't actually lower her relations in response to the girlfriend answer. She doesn't mind it at all, but she's actively flattered when you suggest a boy is interested in her and her opinion goes up in that circumstance. Of course, we decided to approach a topic she really, really doesn't want to talk about, her illness.

Just wanted to say that I'm really glad so many people are enjoying the thread, and, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, that I'm thankful for this thread. I was overly optimistic when I started the thread and guessed we'd be done in January...looking like we'll only be midway through Day 3 then, with the LP ending March or April, but that means another 4 months or so of Ikuhara magic.

Chapter XVIII: Patter Song Sucks At Fighting Games Update title goes for both Patter Songs, for the record. Soundtrack: Tenderness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVUHPfdrDtE Last time, you all overwhelmingly decided to tell Chigusa that we did have someone we were interested in. Patter Song: I wouldn't necessarily say I like them, but...there is someone I've noticed. Patter Song: Huh? Touga-san? Why him? Chigusa: Oh, no particular reason. I just thought that the athletic Student Council President was a likely candidate. Why would we be interested in a sleazy womanizer who is too curious about our parents and who looks eerily like our father? Well, I mean, if the thread wanted us to be into Touga, we would be, but at the moment, he isn't our cup of tea. He does look good punching out kangaroos, though. Patter Song: Oh, well...I guess so. (Why Touga-san in particular? Come to think of it, Chigusa-san was at this school three years ago, right? Doesn't that mean she was Touga-san's classmate? Did something happen back then?) Oh, yeah, that's right. She probably remembers Touga in his awkward middle school years. We regain one of the two points we lost with Chigusa last time. She's a tricky one to talk to. Patter Song: (Well, I'm done shopping, so what should I do now? I'm tired of just walking around, so I should go into one of the stores. Hmm, where should I go?) Soundtrack: School Lyrics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=270vPdVVJ74 Game Center beat Cake Store by a slim 7-6 vote margin, so let's go play some games. Patter Song: (The Game Center here has a fighting game installed that's super-popular right now. Let's try it out for a bit.) Hm...1998 release...You think it's Tekken III? Street Fighter III? Soundtrack: To the Battle Castle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVljz_kQ3Xs You all know what you like. My favorite thing in this image isn't all the Ohtori students, it's the one townie looking massively out of place surrounded by a sea of green jackets. Anyway, yes, Jury is a gamer in addition to being a model, a bowler, a fencer, and a Student Council member. Patter Song: Ah, Jury-san!? Jury: Hm? Oh, it's you. We were just naked with you like two hours ago. Patter Song: Are you playing that game that's so popular these days? Do you come here to play often? Jury: Well, sometimes, yes. Jury is a total ace at popular fighting game "Game." Jury: The one I'm fighting right now is the 49th. Patter Song: Forty-nine!? Jury: You're finished! The game says, in English "Excellent" and the audience applauds. 49 straight opponents, eh? I like to envision Jury as pulling the arcade version of an old-school dojo challenge. Pretty soon, she'll take all the sign off the arcade's marquee and take it home with her. Patter Song: Amazing, she trounced 49 people in a row... Jury: The challenger seat is open. Will you have a try too? I'm actually not very good at fighting games and... Patter Song: Yeah, I'll take you on. Dammit. I hope she's better than I am. I guess they are playing Tekken III, as it has both a golden-haired woman and a ninja. Patter Song: Here I go...FIGHT! Take that! Punch, punch, crouch and kick! Jury: ... I guess she isn't any better than I am. Although kudos for pressing two buttons at once. Jury: ...heh. Jury: You're finished. The audience applauds again as Jury polishes us off in fighting games just as easily as she did in fencing. Next time, we'll have to challenge her in bowling. Patter Song: Aaugh...I lost...Jury, you're too good. Reminder that this game is voice acted and she has, in fact, been calling out her moves like a shounen anime protagonist this whole time. Patter Song: Huh? Oh, right, I got so into it, I suddenly started shouting... Jury: It was quite fun, so no matter. Let's face off again. Until then, stack up training sessions. WOW. Jury really likes us. These %s don't stop at 100%, by the way. I don't know the exact number but I suspect it's 150%. Note that we're only a little past halfway through the bar on Jury. OK, let's leave the Arcade and go back to the park and... Soundtrack: Temptation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5JxFGdRV1w I mean, it is where you left her. Chigusa: Waiting for a rendezvous. Patter Song: A rendezvous? Protagonist-Us is decent at Math, but seems to be failing French. Also, Chigusa said this was the popular date spot, so... ...Well. Chigusa did not, in fact, mean us when she said she was having a date at this spot earlier. Up to you whether you're relieved or jealous. Patter Song: (She's an Ohtori student. She kinda looks like Miki-kun...) Kozue: Oh, Sanjouin-san. Who's this...? Chigusa: Ah, I told you about her. She's that transfer student who moved into the East Dorm. What the hell have you been saying about us, Chigusa? Kozue: Hm, so that's you. Patter Song: And you are...? We'll do a Kozue Character Analysis next time. Anyway, this is the third possible time we could've met Kozue in game, and the latest possible. Because we're not really bothering Miki, she hasn't shown up until now, her date with Chigusa. Patter Song: "Kaoru..." Could you possibly be Miki-kun's...? So much of Kozue's identity is based on being Miki's little sister, but they're five minutes apart. Twin dynamics are fascinating. Patter Song: (Huh, no wonder they look alike, then. But I wonder why she and Chigusa-san are meeting?) Is this a date, by any chance? I think it should be very clear that our dear Protagonist-Us doesn't have a problem with two girls dating, given that she seems desperate to make that very thing a reality for her. Patter Song: That-that's not what I meant. Chigusa: And what about you? Do you not have your own Prince to escort you? You literally just asked us a variation of that same question. OK, I guess in Ohtori "Do you have a Prince" and "Are you interested in someone" are slightly different questions, but still. Well? Do we have a Prince, or Don't we? Remember, a Prince is not just a romantic figure, but also a figure of strength to rely on to save us from danger. Is there someone out there like that for us? Get your votes in, and until next time, The Absolute Destiny Apocalypse!

Due to the near-unanimous nature of this vote, I'm working under the assumption that there is no way for Prince to catch up. I will have the next update up either Thursday or Friday, depending on things. It'll be an easy one to play, but a hard one to write, because I have to do two character analyses: one for Kozue and one for a few characters who will show up for the first time next time. Do you know? Do you know? Do you know who they are?
