I don't think we're ever going to see the end of it.

Yeah, i agree! Pretty lol really that the Kotaku journalist he recently had a satdown with can't stop frothing at the mouth at any chance to call him and his viewers Alt-Right, Gamergate, anti-semite or whatever tho. Everyone keeps trying to pull politics into games and its soooo loving tiresome.

Separating politics from just about anything humans do isn't possible, especially any kind of art or entertainment.

Got my first raging message threat over PS messenger today.

Found a level 20-something dude escorting some level 6 new kid around. He turned red during some PvP so I dropped him with my sniper rifle. Left his low-level non-red friend alone though. They were fun to listen to over chat. He messages me, calling me a bunch of expletives and tells me to run. I laugh. Whatever.

My level 35 buddy logs on about an hour later. We're just bullshittig around and run into the guy again. My buddy goes stealth with some crazy metal chestpiece he has and waits it out. Angry dude comes charging at me in power armor, swinging a huge red war drum. I get hit, he turns red, my buddy knocks him down to like 10% health and all I hear is "WTF was that?!" before I finish him with my shotgun. This time, his low-level friend tries to pick up the slack with his 10mm pistol. Which then breaks as I hear him audibly say "Ah, my gun broke" before he swings at me barehanded. I don't want to, but I kill him as well.

They both disappear for the rest of my session. It was a good night tonight. Killing bounties is the best fun in this game.

I care, I just don't care about fallout's flaws enough to post about what they mean for the gaming industry's downfall or Bethesda's downfall or that the people who enjoy the game are morally and/or mentally deficient etc etc

I care enough to share my experiences with it, as for complaints I don't have anything to add that isn't already being discussed very thoroughly

Several of my rl friends are fallout fans, and a couple years ago we were having fun talking about our experiences in the Commonwealth, sharing stories and videos of dumb bugs or funny things that happened, what kind of character builds we were playing with, etc. We showed each other our settlements because we all had unique approaches to construction and the backstories/concepts we'd come up with for each.

Fallout 76 is letting us do all this together at the same time. So I'm not saying caring isn't cool, just that the energy some of y'all put into caring about the bad things is... Well it's something all right

Same. It was fun as hell watching the "oh my loving god the frame rate is still tied the game speed" discovery happen in basically real-time. That was a grade A1 train-wreck of a discovery that is still my go-to "wow how the gently caress did they let that get to Beta/release without doing anything about it".

Just don't let the schadenfreude blind you. You end up magnifying a lot of petty or even fake issues when everyone's getting high off making GBS threads on the punching bag du jour.

Which isn't to say the game doesn't deserve criticism.

People enjoy feeling vindicated when they pass on a game and it's later derided as being terrible garbage.

The Video Game Quality Matrix is not just an entertaining meme and enjoyable image, it's frighteningly accurate to how some people react.

This game absolutely deserves criticism, it needed another six months to a year in the oven bare minimum. But on the other hand I've heard so much disinformation on what's broken/isn't broken that I'm slightly baffled as to where some of it is coming from.

Oh 100% yeah. I just hate that argument in general. 76 being bad only has to do with politics in a direct “capitalism is bad” kind of way.
