There's a solid year about Dredd eating poo poo after the judges choose a new Chief specifically to push back against the pro mutant reforms Dredd championed and at no point does he either regret what he did or stop doing his job because it's all just part of what he was literally made for He also spends that year trying to bring down the insane racist deputy chief who eliminates the chief in order to take the big seat and effectively put mutants in camps outside the city (Which end up actually being better than living in the city because they get city resources but are essentially self governed with elections and poo poo and the law is basically an old west sheriff system rather than the nightmare of the big Meg)
