Awesome, thanks a ton for the advice! I'll check out the cleaning functions for the camera and give the bulb a couple shots.

Did you do any processing on those? I went for a walk and found a fortress with a fierce defender. I really can't see how it could be any more straightforward to teach yourself processing than it already is in lightroom. You play with sliders and see what happens, find something you think works, post it here, and everyone will tell you why it's poo poo, and so you learn not to max contrast and clarity on every shot.

It's a joke about a bit being able to find the slider labelled right.

I gave my friend a camera because she wanted to get into shooting film, a Praktica MTL 5, she came back with some shots I really liked. I finally got a job again, so I'll be getting 16 rolls developed from my Europe trip and a couple of days out around Brisbane. Can't wait to start contributing some new stuff again. These two are great! The colour palette in the second one especially. Megabound fucked around with this message at 03:08 on Nov 21, 2018 |

its overly saturated and messy when it wants to be clean, tight and most of all, simple. Why is the rubbish in the shot, the crane, the house thing on the right, the boxes on the wall, the bin. That little dot above the wall but below the clouds. If you needed that house thing on the right, why didn't you kneel like 3cm lower and get rid of that small bit of red wall, just leaving the timber and having it be less distracting and more fitting. underage at the vape shop fucked around with this message at 02:25 on Nov 22, 2018 |

Kneeling lower would have killed off the islands in the far background. Edit: Oh that? Never mind, yeah I think you are right.

Whatever. The world isn't perfect. I actually like the little bit of trash there. It's a cool shot with great colors. The fog shots look great, too.

The only things I really agree with is the oversaturation and the black dot near the left-hand light pole. I'd definitely still use it as a desktop wallpaper. I think the trash and the crane add a bit of visual interest in what'd be an otherwise bland shot.

Not trying to start a flame war, but can color saturation be quantified? Overexposure and underexposure can be seen in the histogram. But how do you see oversaturation?

I should have bolded the part where I say quantified. Edit: r/earthporn has many obvious saturation offenders, but it's no obvious to me in the post that started this derail. theHUNGERian fucked around with this message at 01:08 on Nov 23, 2018 |
