Awesome, thanks a ton for the advice! I'll check out the cleaning functions for the camera and give the bulb a couple shots.

Did you do any processing on those?

Sliders full either to right or left is my favorite. Really enhances things. :haw:

How can you not figure out lightroom? I really can't see how it could be any more straightforward to teach yourself processing than it already is in lightroom. You play with sliders and see what happens, find something you think works, post it here, and everyone will tell you why it's poo poo, and so you learn not to max contrast and clarity on every shot.

It's a joke about a bit being able to find the slider labelled right.

What are you trying to do here? What is the subject in these photos? Is it the random people in the scene? They look like they should be the focus, but they aren't framed that way.

I gave my friend a camera because she wanted to get into shooting film, a Praktica MTL 5, she came back with some shots I really liked.

I finally got a job again, so I'll be getting 16 rolls developed from my Europe trip and a couple of days out around Brisbane. Can't wait to start contributing some new stuff again.

These two are great! The colour palette in the second one especially.

its overly saturated and messy when it wants to be clean, tight and most of all, simple. Why is the rubbish in the shot, the crane, the house thing on the right, the boxes on the wall, the bin. That little dot above the wall but below the clouds. If you needed that house thing on the right, why didn't you kneel like 3cm lower and get rid of that small bit of red wall, just leaving the timber and having it be less distracting and more fitting.

Kneeling lower would have killed off the islands in the far background.

Edit: Oh that? Never mind, yeah I think you are right.

You’re probably right about the island. Two shots I took earlier in the year with the first just barely covering up the whole far railing.

The only things I really agree with is the oversaturation and the black dot near the left-hand light pole. I'd definitely still use it as a desktop wallpaper. I think the trash and the crane add a bit of visual interest in what'd be an otherwise bland shot.

Not trying to start a flame war, but can color saturation be quantified? Overexposure and underexposure can be seen in the histogram. But how do you see oversaturation?

I should have bolded the part where I say quantified.

Edit: r/earthporn has many obvious saturation offenders, but it's no obvious to me in the post that started this derail.
