I really liked Hollow Knight, should I pick up Celeste? I am also thinking about picking up Shantae since I liked the previous ones but I don’t know much about Half-Genie Hero. Also I heard good things about Bloodstained it’s like a classic Castlevania and not a metroidvania, right? I’m also thinking about getting Undertale because I’ve heard it’s heavily influenced by Earthbound. Is it true that to get the best ending you have to not kill any enemies? Is the game still fun that way? Nintendo stop putting so many good games on sale I don’t have infinite money

Undertale has an interesting battle system that can be like an action puzzle to defeat an enemy without killing them. It’s an absolute must if you’re an Earthbound fan. Just play the game “normally” at first. The game is designed to have multiple playthroughs. You can’t do the pacifist run first go anyway. Celeste and Bloodstained (it’s basically Castlevania 3) are pretty good but Shantae is super mediocre. SeANMcBAY fucked around with this message at 19:32 on Nov 22, 2018 |

Is the game still fun that way? If you liked the platforming in HK then get Celeste. It's like that but world's better. Celeste is also just a fine game in its own right: the story, music, and presentation are great and if you have trouble with the platforming just use the assist mode to just experience the game. The game's probably more fun if you don't kill people but I'm pretty sure you can't do that the first time you play so you have to play more than once. Make sure you like bullet-hell though because that's what the battles are like, and it's ultimately what turned me off the game. Now, most people won't agree with me but rather than being reminiscent of Earthbound or an homage to it, it struck me as more derivative and as a pastiche of what makes Earthbound good. However, as I said, that's probably just me.

The battles in Undertale are like extremely easy bullet hell with a few exceptions if you’re going on the evil path. They aren’t Ikaruga or anything.

They're creative bullet-hells, for what's worth, but dodging things doesn't do it for me.

Does anyone else have a hunch that Starlink getting a $20 discount so soon after its release is a sign that its initial numbers are underperforming?

I honestly thought Starlink was free-to-play and buying the toys gave you an advantage and fun perks like Star Fox, but loving LMAO they expect you to pay $80 for the core game in a new franchise AND buy the toys/upgrades/downloads. This may be the worst business model in gaming I've ever seen, and I'm one of the idiots that actually bought The Godfather.

I like Starlink, feels worth its price. Although I'd be cautious: many of the quests are just travel to the destination marker, and return to base. I think it's trying to entertain you with upgrade rewards for your ship The fights are fun and intense, atmosphere is great, the sound and VO are awesome, especially if you miss the Starfox team I bought digital, I have no interest in the toys

As someone who played through the regular digital edition and had a blast with it, I highly recommend getting the deluxe digital, especially now that it's on sale. The three extra weapons&pilots locked behind that tier offer several interesting abilities that I kinda wish I was able to use the first time around. Also, I beat the main story of Celeste in two days (~6 hours) and it was ah-mazing! Highly recommended. I don't have much patience for brutal difficulty in games, and Celeste is very accomodating with its quick respawn, tight controls, and level design that often offers juuuust enough slack so that nothing feels punishing.
