From what I've heard even the rathalos they added to the MMO wasn't well received, because the action game mechanics didn't fit in with the rest of the game there either, just like how behemoth's badgame mechanics don't fit in monster hunter.

Behemoth though really seems to rely on everyone being on the same page, like you really do have to be an organized MMO party. And absolutely none of this would bother me if just the mission being active didn't change the music and put you in FFXIV land forever until you get lucky enough to beat their horrible raid boss. At first I thought the event would be temporary and I could wait it out but seems like it's here to stay.

King Behemoth is a pretty easy raid boss in FF14 and it's considered a sign of unusually severe incompetence if a pick up group wipes on him.

I'm playing Zelda BOTW for the first time as well right now. I had to start it over several times too because I lost interest pretty quickly, but once you get a horse, update your sheikah slate and open up some quests the game gets good. What pisses me off is that using fast travel will leave your horse wherever you are.

7 Days To Die, new release A17 edition I'm 7DTD's biggest fan/apologist, but some of the decision's they've made on this patch, ugh. I just gotta vent. If you're not familiar with the game, imagine Minecraft for most contexts, and keep in mind the game's '7 day' countdown. No option to spawn with friends. Very likely that two people who join the same game will spawn 5+ Km apart, which is 2 day's travel. God help you if you have a team of 3-6. When you die, you no longer lose max health (which took a long time to replace, and opened you up to dying repeatedly, but eventually something a high-level character/team could mitigate with good food), but now are hit with a debuff that reduces your stats to zero and causes you to forget all your fancy crafting recipes for an hour. No crafting Iron+ tools, no +damage skills, not even your +health/inventory size perks. You can't even make forges/workbenches anymore! You can't even buy stats/skills anymore! Basically you're a useless drain on your team or wholly defenseless for an entire hour. If you die again, reset that clock. Before, you could easily get a forge before Night 1 if you knew what you were doing-- just gathering the right bits. Now it's level-locked at L20-- if you're not grinding zombies, you might get your forge at day 5 or 6, meaning you get a whopping one day of use of iron tools to prepare for Night 7. Unless you(r team's crafter) dies on day 6, of course. Workshops used to be level-locked at L20, now they're L30. Steel used to be 40, now 60. I'd be honestly surprised if more than 50% of the playerbase got to L50+ on any particular save, based on my experience. You can party with other players to share kill experience which is nice, but there's a penalty-- solo a kill is 700 exp, duos each get 630, a trio shares 550, etc. This is kind of a minor gripe that with a 6-man team and 2-3 people not out killing zombies (at home crafting/farming/fortifying, etc) the exp rate tanks hard. Previously crafting/mining gave pretty good exp so the home team wasn't left out, but that's been largely scaled back. Edit for more: They added magazines like Fallout New Vegas: get/improve a perk/skill for 30 minutes. Cool, except you still have to satisfy the skill/level requirement, so they don't work if you've died recently, if you've maxed a particular skill per your level, etc. So they're just short of useless. Land Claims used to protect your base in pvp, preventing people from breaking your poo poo while you're offline. I loved the old system where you could have a large, sprawling 'base' as well as outposts by manufacturing a ton of Claim Blocks. They covered a small area and were pretty expensive so covering a large area became prohibitive quickly and gave attackers and defenders a cat-and-mouse labyrinth gameplay which was super great. Now you are allowed exactly one claim block It feels like the devs don't play the game, or if they do its with heavy use of the console, admin commands and creative mode. Just Cause 3 The ending is hilariously abrupt. You shoot the bad guy or not and it instantly cuts to the credits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u61F_qvdid0 While the main campaign isn't hard there is a poo poo-ton of escort-missions and tower-defence levels. The challenges are poo poo. Use a mod to unlock all Mods for free. The chop-shop collectathon, where you bring back vehicles to a garage to add them to your collection, was surprisingly fun despite the fact you don't need to drive in this game. It was a bit cheeky that this one boat only spawns in a landlocked lake, and it's extremely heavy if you want to airlift it out. While the game has a laundry-list of issues I do like it better than JC2 because this game isn't so padded. There's 130 settlements to destroy instead of 360, and the chaos is much more dynamic and interesting. There's no currency so you're free to try out your arsenal for free, and the black-market system is far more convenient. I also appreciate they cut down the number of pointless collectibles by 95%. The DLC regions helped to balance out the map. Just Cause 4 promises to have a more interesting map and a return of tropical and desert zones, as well as a more conventional XP system, so it could be the best game in the series.

JC as a series perpetually drags itself down by not having coop. And instead only half-heartedly supports some modders that try adding multiplayer to their older games. The faults in the games would be immensely more tolerable if I could share them with a friend. (That I would attempt to attach a significant amount of gas canisters to.) Haven't played the games since... 2? Though, so the new ones might be actual garbage for all I know-

Just Cause 2 Multiplayer mod was the most hilarious thing in games I've experienced but that lasted for about 4 hours because there was no actual campaign or goal to accomplish together. To put it in the modern terms, JC 1-3 is early access.

Crossposting from getting mad at games in GBS because I didSimply Simon posted:I know about those, but just the general design that was in the original is also just grinding my patience down into a paste. Why do extra lives not respawn if you choose to replay a stage after a Game Over, forcing you to hard load the game instead? Even super oldschool Mega Man games weren't as unforgiving to only give you the lives once EVER. Why is getting a gem in the first game still tied to getting all the boxes AND not dying a single time in those ludicrously touchy levels - they're making a single new game out of the three, could they honestly not have updated this obviously deemed by the developers too harsh decision for the first one? The way to get to the secret coloured gems in the second game was making me weep from the obscurity of it all, with a hidden warp from one level unlocking a completely new stage select to a second level I had previously spent ages in to find a gem I could SEE offscreen, but no, you have to go to an entirely different level in an entirely different world. There was no good reason in Fallout 4 why junk items weren't weightless without mods since the game encourages you to pick everything up. After a few hours you hit your breaking-point and console-command 1000lbs of adhesive because you sure as poo poo aren't getting the stuff by any method that isn't nerdy metagaming.
