I own a TPCast and all I can ask is "How many 360 degree/roomscale games do you play" and "How much is $300 worth to you?" It works as advertised but I find most of the games I play these days are stationary and forward-facing so I'm currently using the normal wired connection. It's good to have for when I get a hankering to play a lot of Serious Sam again or some other game where I find myself utilizing roomscale a lot. The main reasons I don't just have it on all the time is there's the added step of syncing the TPCast with your system whenever you wanna use your headset and I don't wanna wear the battery out too much.

Ah poo poo. Been meaning to get it for ages. Hopefully it's on sale again at Christmas.

Of course I actually have to finally finish Mage's Tale first. I know a few people in the thread seem to really like it, but it's jankiness does get to me. The poor/buggy implementation of sliding movement and the lack of any proper physical interaction with the environment, especially.
Environments are nice to look at though.

I really like it. I only played Skyrim once way back when it came out, so I'm replaying it now in VR and it is really nice to just be able to turn all you like and not have that feeling of the cord touching you. You might consider getting a spare battery if you're going to play for long stretches of time, they charge quite slowly.

I never had any issues with multiole monitors at different resolutions, different DPI can be a bit wonky though. Anyway, I don't think it's this but I'll try switching to 720p and back just in case.

Are you loving kidding me? I thought people in Reddit were totally over-reacting over the Playstation timed exclusive poo poo. But changing the sabers legitimately pisses me off and I feel like it's a total bait and switch now.

On an unrelated note, someone in the last page tried updating their Vive lighthouse firmware and ended up bricking one of their lighthouses in the process. Is it even worth it to update the lighthouse firmware? What benefits do you get?

I've been using the default firmware that came with my lighthouses since I bought my Vive two years ago, and it's been tracking flawlessly.

So it sounds like typical Disney bullying with a cease and desist that is completely baseless, but what indie dev would be willing to burn funds in a frivolous lawsuit against disney? It's just easier to comply with the cease and desist. But yeah true, Jim Silly-Balls is right that it would probably get modded back in.

I mean, calling it Beatsaber and handing you what look exactly like lightsabers isn't a stretch for Disney. Crying about The Man because your game doesn't look as cool is fine, claiming some grave injustice is just silly.

How are they in the right? And trademarks and copyright are two different matters and neither are being violated here. Terms like Lightsaber or Star Wars are indeed trademarks of Disney but nothing on the game uses these terms. A glowy light stick also isn't a copyright violation nor is it a trademark.

If they had Star Wars characters, events from the movies, etc then yes that would be copyright violation.

Anyway it's a non issue thanks to mods.

Edit: On second thought if said growy light stick looks confusingly similar to a light saber maybe that could be a trademark violation because a trademark can be a design or device.

I'll concede that Disney may have a case.

That was me, I edited my post with how I fixed it. I only updated cause I had to reposition the base stations and figured why not update them while I have them down.

I have not noticed any difference, but apparently the biggest change is that now they will blink their light red if something has failed. Before they would just silently fail.

I got my Samsung Odyssey + and the colors are amazing and the display have very minimal SDE which is awesome but my god, they need to do something about the padding. At the top-middle of the padding, theres a plastic piece that the padding is in and when the headset is pushed on your face, the padding gets pushed in enough that you feel the edge of the plastic piece go right into your forehead.
Even though it's lighter then a PSVR, it feels worse just because of the padding and how it sits on your head. I'm still going to keep it around though.

Some of the endings are like, pretty involved in terms of step by step things you need to do. What do you mean by spoiler free? Like you don't know what'll happen when you get the endings and you want an explicit step by step guide, or do you just want kind of hints?

Both I guess? I suppose I'd like hints for endings that aren't that complicated, but maybe step by step guides for things that I have little to no chance of figuring out on my own. And yeah, by spoiler free I just mean I don't want to know exactly what will happen when I do the things I'm supposed to do. I don't want to end up reading a guide that reads like "to unlock [spoiler that I don't want to read], you have to do these things".

For reference, the endings I've unlocked on my own are broken cartridge, nuke, let's be friends, and best men. I also made the world turn tiny by throwing the lone wolf figure onto the kid wizard book, and I saw the message inside that room, but I have no idea what to do next.

Here's one: I think broken cartridge means he stabbed you. Too bad! Is there another way he could beat you?Lose in the last TV battle

Another: You can avoid getting stabbed when you see him in real life If you shoot him enough times, you'll defeat him. Gotta be pretty quick on the draw, though.

And I think there's only one more: I think this one only gets triggered after you've gotten six of the endings. Try being friends with the dog again, or see if you can make it to the white room. After the friends/"Final Fiesta" ending where you don't shoot the dog, if you go back to the living room there should be a new tape to watch. It should also be in the room with all the game objects. You can get in there by putting the wizard book on the computer, I think. You might need to be big. I don't really remember lol

Over black friday/cyber monday, I picked up a couple cheap VR games, Omega Agent and Windlands, both are pretty cool. I feel like Windlands is popular enough that most folks know what it is, but I had never heard of Omega Agent and basically picked it up on a whim because it was cheap and I liked the concept.

Turns out Omega Agent is really fun. Basically, its like Ultrawings (which is like Pilotwings) except in a jetpack. Except the jetpack handles more like a quadcopter than a jetpack, which is a good thing. Control is really precise and responsive. Omega Agent is basically what it would be like to ride along on one of those cazy race quads, and thats pretty cool.

I spent like an hour and a half last night in the free roam mode just skimming over buildings and going as nuts as I could as close as I could to buildings without hitting stuff. The movement controls with an xbone controller are really satisfying and very precise, meaning you can pull off crazy close stunts.

For the $1 or whatever I paid for it, its really cool.

For any cockpit porn fans in here, the DCS World devs are apparently working on getting motion controller support in.

DCS newsletter posted:

We see VR as an amazing tool to enjoy DCS World and the future of PC gaming for many. To make DCS World even better, we’ve been working on some great VR improvements that include:

- Optimized VR performance
- Touch control that allows direct finger interaction with cockpit controls
- Touch control to allow the right and left Touch controllers to act as stick and throttle when positioned correctly in the virtual cockpit and holding down the middle-finger button

These will provide a much more immersive VR experience, particularly for those flying warbirds and other aircraft that do not require HOTAS controls.

Beve Stuscemi
Jun 6, 2001

I hope they really focus on performance, because DCS runs like rear end

mashed
Jul 27, 2004

DCS vr does run like rear end but its also really awesome in vr fun wise. I don't think I can go back to track ir after using VR. I'm not sure if a touch controller for hitting switches etc would really be much better than a mouse though if you are using a hotas for your main controls. Using it for virtual stick and throttle would be fun to try but isn't going to be a replacement for physical controls.

It would be interesting to make a joystick gimbal and throttle gimbal with removable controller cups similar to a protube etc so you aren't having to take your hands of the touch controllers. They are lacking in buttons for modern jets but would have plenty for warbirds.

Hello,

Been doing some research on VR. I finally have a rig powerful enough to do it. (i7-8700, 16GM DDR4 - 3200 RAM, M.2 Samsung 970 Evo, RTX 2070)

Guy on Craigslist is selling his Rift+Touch for $250. Says he's only used it a handful of times because he gets too sick while playing but that he bought it about a year ago. Seems like a good deal IF the Rift isn't broken into a million pieces of poo poo. Saw that with the Black Friday deal I can snag my own brand new Rift for $315 - Any changes in hardware since a year ago?

Following up on age of devices. Any reason I should WAIT? (New Gen coming out - some kind of new hardware coming out, etc.)

I'm a Vive owner, but as far as I'm aware a 1 year old Rift + Touch should be the same as buying the current bundle. Really up to you if you think used instead of new is worth $65, but I haven't heard about any widespread problems that would scare me off a used system. Maybe check how many cameras he's including (it should be 3 in the current bundle I think)/ what you're losing in terms of bundled in software.

There's no next gen headset on the horizon for PCVR; there are some mid-gen sets offered by third parties but Rift and Vive still seem to be the most popular, and they're pretty comparable. Those prices sound like a good deal to me.
