I’d have liked to see GSC getting the vect stratagem to go along with the deny auras one. Instead of armor or high toughness, they’d rely on subverting enemy strengths as a survival mechanic. Like xenomorph Vietcong. I could see some ‘stealer cults being relatively benign and not that horrible. Like an Agri-world cult where there’s no real oversight or defense force, relatively few people and everyone’s in on it. Farm the crops, run the sausage machines, then go home to your horrible monster wife and slimy larvae children to watch some tv and relax. It's a re-imagining of the Alien mechanic, but if anything the Genestealer lore is slightly less violent while being way creepier. I get that it's semi-acceptable in a Cronenberg-esque body horror way for an adult game with a massive scope of horrible monstrous stuff but in a kids book

The dutiful cults that march lockstep into the digestive pools are well and good, but my favorite are the ones that hightail it the gently caress off-world once they complete their task because while worshiping the star gods is great, gently caress getting eaten by them. Time to find a new mining company looking to hire a few hundred weirdos and start this poo poo over again. It would be a fascinating existence.

Oh, that's exactly what makes GSC fascinating; Hell, even Chaos Cultists could be - It's that initially, it's beneficial to you, and it's perfectly reasonable. How many book clubs end up worshipping Tzeentch, or fight clubs turn into Khornate blood pits? GSC infiltration works canonically because it makes perfect sense the cult WOULD find it easy to settle in the average Imperial environment.

I really, really, really want to kickstart a Cult but with no easily available Battleforce and no Start Collecting I didn't really have anything to ask for for xmas that would make such a thing be not a pain in the rear end for the person buying them lol. Hoping they announce a SC with the codex before the holidays.

I’d love if Genestealer Cults had offshoots that broke away from the Hive Mind to do their own thing, similar to the Farsight Enclaves. Unable to ally with and lacking the Tyranid keyword, but with a neat ability to make up for it. Like a Ymgarl cult faction.

Some Genestealers are driven to escape an oncoming Tyranid invasion purely for the purposes of restarting the cycle, but considering their semi-independence I’d bet there’s a bit of “selfish” desire to continue existing as well. I’m sure there are cultists that feel the same way, at least if they’re aware enough about their origin and that of the “Star Children” or whatever their cult calls them.

Genestealer cults have this narrative problem for me where they feel like a shaggy dog story - the end game is that Star Gods show up, eat the insurgents, and that's it pretty much every time. It's really just grimdark for the sake of grimdark. If they lean into that aspect of the lore more or have a cult stalemating the nids after defeating the Imperium or something that would make them way more playable for me.

Am I a Bad Dad if I let my kids play Tau and Eldar when we do Dadhammer? Not sure why both boys went for the two most maligned ‘power’ armies, but oh well. I started them out with a box of Guardians plus Psykers and Fire Warriors plus Fireblade. Recently scored a nice deal on some second hand Eldar for one, and now I need to get more Tau for the younger brother. He would love some Kroot, Crisis, and Stealth Suits. Going to be scouring eBay and my FLGS, but if anyone is looking to get rid of their filthy Xenos let me know, and please give me a heads up if you plan to report me to CPS for allowing my son to like Tau.
