Nah. He's just curious what a female version would look like, just like he was for the male version. The childish, androgynous form is the humanoid form he always uses.

The human form does start to look older as he accrues more power, but it remains androgynous. Which is interesting, considering he probably could have gone with the more masculine appearance if he wanted to.

He mentions that he had done some side work in building in the past when observing the first attempts at building bigger structures by the hobgoblins.

He does say he was, by no means, an expert in construction though.

Finally I understand why the WN sometimes digressed into paragraphs on the details of constructing a city in a forest full of monsters and building a safe transportation network to nearby civilizations.

They mention a bunch of other anime on the cover too though. I'd be interested to see what the angle is on all of them: Tetsuwan Atom, Patlabor 2 movie, Girls & Panzer, and the Monogatari series.

What are those trenches for in the city construction scenes? Are they putting in sewers?

Ogre lady would probably have already been wearing a busness suit if she knew they existed before meeting Rimuru. None of the other ogres feel the need to drasticly change their style, but the minute she gets a chance to dress like a yakuza she updates her wardrobe.

And the wolf behind Rimuru goes bug eyed.

ACTUALLY IT IS VERY GOOD THAT THE SHOW IS BAD AND ANYONE WHO DOESN'T REALIZE WHY THAT'S GOOD IS AN IDIOT. JUST ENJOY THE BAD SHOW INSTEAD OF THINKING.

Skippy McPants posted:

Yeah, if you're looking for high stakes or deep interfactional conflict, this isn't really that story. I mean, you do get that way later on, but with how far this show plans to go we're probably only going to see one example and even that is resolved in a pretty tidy manner.

That said, it helps to keep in mind that most of the people Rimuru's incorporated so far are considered subhuman monsters by the majority of the world. It goes some way to explaining why everything is so copacetic at this stage when you remember that, from their perspective, a benevolent deity showed up on their doorstep, told them they're deserving of basic dignity, and then helped them build a thriving community. Plenty of people in our world would jump at that deal.

Yes, it's all idyllic bordering on naive, but in 2018 I could really do with a story where almost everyone gets along and everything mostly works out for the best.

That the author was previously a civil engineer explains the attention paid to actually showing some of the aspects of how the huts were built and the town was being laid out.

He worked in contracting, so I think he paid people to build things. He knows how to recognise a poo poo job (so he can oversee the contractors), but not how to do it himself.

All the ogres only get cooler going forward, though OL, Fire Ogre Leader and Old Man Ogre are the obvious standouts. The one that got punched and KO'd is a sleeper pick too and probably #1 in my personal coolness rankings.

I'm glad that the manga and light novel are movin' copies, that should make a second season pretty darn likely within a year or two.

Given the sales impact the anime had on the manga, It's more of a case of WHEN rather than IF. This is especially true for merchandise.

Even super popular stuff can have a slow turn around if another season wasn't expected to be made. Overlord, and Re;Zero both did extremely well, but it took a long time for additional content to be made. It was really surprising when Log Horizon got a second season so fast.

IT wouldn't surprise me that much if Season 2 gets announced in spring actually. Right now the anime is moving at pace of 1 LN for every 8 episodes. Even IF it gets sped up to 4 LN before the two cour ends, that's still enough time for enough material to have printed out both here and in Japan for another season to get made likely in time for next fall or Winter.
