Warbadger posted:Specifically a bunch of Tether was printed and used to buy Bitcoins at a higher price. This drives up the price. I assumed that as soon as Tether was, uh, un-tethered, it would immediately crater to $0.00 in a mad rush to get away from it. Does it actually still "have value"?

MERL Tech: Blockchain for International Development. "We documented 43 blockchain use-cases ... no documentation or evidence of the results blockchain was purported to have achieved in these claims ... Not one was willing to share data on program results." the author of this fine piece would be delighted if you could all spread it as absolutely far and wide as possible, in the cause of the sacred butt. thank you.

Tether still has value w/r/t the price of crypto currency as long as exchanges recognize it as having value when calculating things. Which will be for as long as possible, because this is a scam and keeping prices artificially high as long as possible benefits everyone involved in the scam. It's clever in that they created a coin whose value is not determined by people selling/buying it - they simply say it's always worth $1 per coin and thus even as the entire crypto market spirals down the drain they can still use tether to pump the price of other coins without spending any real $$. I'm curious about monero too. For the transaction to be truly untraceable wouldn't have to leave no information for who gets paid, and if so then no guarantee the correct recipient also gets paid? In order for it to work shouldn't there be some information available of who is being paid
