Wouldn't be trostkyism if they weren't trying to trick college students away from joining real socialist organizations to do their stupid mock-UN bullshit

Trotskyism is great but it's been ruined by Trots being mostly useless, inward looking bores.

GalacticAcid posted:Lol The Economist has an article up about Xi Jinping Thought - China is struggling to explain Xi Jinping Thought. quote:In April Qian Xian, a party journal, said there had been continual debate over the meaning of “socialism with Chinese characteristics”, the concept at the heart of Deng Theory. In an apparent dig at a weakness of the Theory, the article said “some people” thought the phrase was another way of saying “capitalism with Chinese characteristics”. This, it said, had created “theoretical chaos”. Mr Xi stresses that socialism with Chinese characteristics is in fact about “socialism and not any other kind of –ism” (point two, subsection three on the mind-map). this seems pretty straightforward to me.

Okay this is wild if you follow the "communist" tag at the bottom of that. Here's a Taiwanese communist rapper named 鍾翔宇 Xiangyu https://comradexiangyu.bandcamp.com/album/bombard-the-headquarters quote:"Bombard the Headquarters" is a collection of songs by Xiangyu after he graduated from university and started working. During this time, he was also active in his independent studies and participation in grassroots organizations. The album is titled "Bombard the Headquarters" because, based upon his observations, the two trends apparent in hip hop are commercialization and the tendency for discourse regarding hip hop to be dominated by elitists. Over the course of Xiangyu's studies, he was inspired by the fact that during the GPCR, the greatest number of schools was built in the shortest amount of time in Chinese history while various experiments were carried out in the fields of production, medicine, education, and etc. Most importantly, these experiments were carried out locally by the people themselves. Unlike idealists, he does not believe that music itself is capable of changing the world, but his music is nonetheless an attempt to create something that reflects ordinary people while drawing inspiration from the revolutionary masses.

The frustrating response to this is to point out that women have been sexually exploited before capitalism so therefore the problem must be something inherent to male or human nature - but the point isn't that capitalism is uniquely problematic, it's that liberalism can only ever marginally improve conditions for women generally because true liberation is only reserved for the bourgeois.
