He does indeed have dazed and confused moments, probably caused by some mix of sundowning and simply being mentally incapable of sustained hard work. After all, he has never in his life had to do real labor to earn a living. However, I strongly believe he skipped the WWI memorial because the baldness "cure" surgery he got years ago has left his scalp badly scarred. Rain causes his hair to flatten, revealing his Darth-Vader-without-a-helmet lookin' dome. He is deeply humiliated by the way his head looks, so much so that he raped his wife over it. He is terrified of it being revealed in public, and so he is terrified of rain by extension. Chimp_On_Stilts fucked around with this message at 04:18 on Dec 3, 2018 |

Abusers don't abuse because it solves problems, they do it because abusing someone is an expression of power and dominance. In Trump's case, he has been able to use the massive fortune he was given as a child to paper over his lifetime of abuses. Were he some lower middle class schmuck, he'd have landed in prison decades ago.

The thing is even with Medicare for All, America would still be able to have private insurance as well. The majority of healthcare systems are a mix of public and private. The NHS in the UK is pretty unique. Australia has Medicare which all Australians, Permanent Residents and some temp visa holders are eligible to enroll into for free. There are small fees at point of service unless you are exempt. You are encouraged to take out private insurance as well, but here's the thing: private insurance has to be competitively priced otherwise nobody will bother with it and will just use medicare. I believe in most European countries private health insurance costs are capped too. So your greedy, rapacious health insurance industry will still be able to operate, they'll just need to be less greedy and actually provide the service they're supposed to.
