Im still sitting on 50% equity. But be hosed if I actually live in a million dollar home - its sane value is basically what I paid for it - even arguably less. And busts/slowdowns/doldrums are a thing. Yeah it may even go back to what or paid for it or less. GOOD. But sadly it will one day go nuts again because gently caress learning from history

Also, hypothetically, if you finish being on Newstart within a fortnightly reporting period, would you still need to report your earnings for the full fortnight or only for the days you remained on Newstart? Debt collection is after me for 80 bucks (they say I was working full time for the final three days of my last reporting period and so was not entitled to those 3 days of newstart). But it seems to me going by their BS that they owe me money; I reported the hours that I worked for those three days and they were subtracted from my final payment. If those three days don't count then those hours worked don't count, and they owe me a hundred bucks. The 2 and a half hours spent on the phone today was not time well spent

Your earnings should be measured against the number of entitlement period days on newstart, normally 14 (ending business day before you get paid) but if you lose qualification mid way through an entitlement period then the number of days is shortened (and the pay rate too obv) so your payment should only reflect until you got cancelled and your earnings don't matter beyond that so in your case you would be assessed as 11 days instead of 14 for that entitlement period. Something that can happen in these situations is the payment goes through before the cancellation so you get paid the 3 days before they cancelled you off so maybe that could have done it. You can't really get much help for this from outside since it has to be fixed internally by DHS and the amount of info needed to confirm it all externally would be pretty intrusive so your best bet is to request a review and provide all your payslips and stuff then if that doesn't work and you feel it is still wrong then go to the AAT (they want internal reviews done first these days i believe but you can try and contact them first).

Tell me more! mastodon is a platform similar to twitter, but instead of being owned and operated by a single entity, it is a federation of independent servers (or instances) run by everyday people. it's basically socialised social media. you can follow and talk to people across the federation of instances just as if it was one platform. having lots of smaller, interest/community based servers help spread the load of administration and moderation tasks. it also helps prevent things like ads (because it has no need to turn a profit) and nazis (each instance has its own code of conduct, and if there is a nazi server, it can be blocked wholly from appearing on your instance by the admins). a lot of people are flocking to it because of the tumblr changes announced today, but its also a good place to post about auspol and stuff. i hope more people embrace it you can also see more about what mastodon is generally here: https://joinmastodon.org/ bell jar fucked around with this message at 08:15 on Dec 4, 2018 |

Great, thanks. That squares with what I had thought to be true, but the newstart (maybe DHS?) people I spoke to today clearly had no idea what I was talking about. At one point, having consulting a colleague, the person on the phone ventured that maybe I shouldn't have received any money at all for that final week. They've passed it up the chain and said they'll get back to me in a couple of days (who knows what will finally happen). I'm coming out of this one ahead, or a least having broken even, and I don't care if it takes a hundred years to get there. Doctor Spaceman posted:Hawthorn's finally been called for Labor. Sounds like it has gone to a senior prac or something so yea when they get back to you if they can't sort it then ask for an internal review and then AAT. If you really wanna know how it all works in depth search for Entitlement Periods on guide to social security law and prepare to hate life and you'll understand why everyone gets so confused with this stuff. naeka fucked around with this message at 08:34 on Dec 4, 2018 |
