Believe it or not there are indeed people who are actively trying to harm America, even considering the fact that we actually deserve it, did you see what the 9/11 attacks caused? So yeah preventing future attacks by targeting individuals who are actively trying to repeat that sort of thing is kind of important. Presidents have to make life and death decisions every day, and no matter how they decide someone is getting screwed. It sucks but it's the reality we work under. You want a President who can run unambiguously left, you have to create an electorate that is unambiguously left and put congresspeople in who are also unambiguously left. Obama wasn't perfect, who the gently caress is? But he was a good competent President who's heart was in the right place and to assume that because he ordered drone strikes means that he's a heartless sociopath ignores the fact that those discussions about strikes, targets and potential collateral damage also included discussions of the potential consequences of inaction with the big potential consequence being another 9/11 style attack which would not only have derailed any sort of legislative agenda he might have but also would have resulted in baying for more blood on the part of the public. If you weren't awake and aware during the run up to the wars post 9/11 you have no concept of what it was like, I was a part of the minority arguing against it and it was like trying to stop a glacier so yeah a few innocent lives is a small cost for potentially saving millions of innocent lives. Which is the kind of decisions that a President has to make. Basically Obama's problem was that America was surprise surprise , still full of racist assholes.
