they are? if so i think that's a change from 2.1.

i think i did a game with robots as a non-machine intelligence once. i just had to click off the ethic/trait and it let me play individualistic robots.

No, that has never been an option.

The only way to get individual robots is to get Synths in game and do Synthetic Ascension unless you use mods.

Traditions got heavily changed. Biggest impact I can see is no more +anomaly chance in discovery, and removal of all unity gain bonuses. These are both great changes IMO, since certain trees are no longer worth way more or less depending on when you take them. Expansion's layout makes more sense to me now, domination seems actually useful, and even if you're not doing a federation diplomacy other picks should give a decent income generation.

edit: you also start with flak now! Makes a big change to early missile fleets being stupid OP.

Does that also means it's all right to open several trees at the same time? I assume that such a change also means every new tradition pick is a flat % increase for the next one.

Obviously can't talk for the balance after, like, 5 minutes, but the initial feel of the planet interface feels good.

/edit/ the added resources open up the early mineral building of the start so much more.

Is there a way to change where trade routes go? I built a nice new trading hub... and it's chosen a route that goes through a system full of void clouds, losing me ALL of my trade income, instead of going through the equal-number-of-hyperlanes route that goes through my territory.

[edit]

It worked it out after a while

"Tiny Trains"

Is anyone else getting a total lock-up when trying to patrol? I noticed I had a spot of piracy and the game told me to patrol. I click patrol, click the system, and the game totally locks up. Doesn't crash, just locks. I tried it again, same thing.

Also shared burden seems a bit lame if I'm not missing something. It just unlocks a worse version of Utopian Abundance? I ended up not taking it and just putting everyone on Utopian Abundance from the start and it feels space-communist as heck. Also all my unemployed workers are generating research and unity, lovely!!

Also also robot production is annoying. I had robot modification well before my first robot plant but could not get them making mine-bots out the gate. Had to wait until the first robot was built, do an expensive project to convert that single robot to a mine-bot, and now my dang old robot factor is still making default robots. I thougth it was just because it was in the queue so I shut down the plant, waited, started it up again and the game decided to start construction on a new vanilla robot instead of a minebot :(

IMHO there still needs to be a Vanguard Party ethic for a government type that makes them operate like a communist criminal syndicate.

Maybe in the diplomacy update.

Hey Wiz, I'm sure you're in no-reply mode, but I may have found a bug? I had trade value listed on a planet, did an anomaly which rewarded engineering research on it, now it is just engineering research.

Oh man I'm 100% down with LeGuin after a couple of hours, deciding what to build on a planet, especially buildings (rather than districts) is actually proving a tough choice. The margins are all narrow enough at this stage of the game that literally anything would be a significant benefit, so figuring out which is most critical is really hard. I love it.

Technically WAD, I guess, but we will probably look at that stuff for the inevitable patch. Remember any details (e.g. text) of the anomaly?

Can't recall, just know it was a low level one (1-2 I think, because its early game) and it added a +3 engineering research to the planet. Umm, looking at the planet (toxic world) it has the 'towed asteroid' modifier, which I think might pop from that anomaly? Man its been forever since I payed attention to some of this stuff.

This is an awesome change! I hated that I felt like I had to grab all the +anomaly bonuses asap before I started scanning anything. Hopefully they got rid of the bonus from map the stars as well, and just rolled it into the base chance.

Also balancing alloys and minerals in going to be interesting to figure out.
