Solitary confinement is torture.

If the prison system weren’t absurdly garbage he’d be given a sentence similar to Brevik, where he is in for 20 year intervals subject to checks to see if he’s responded to rehabilitation attempts. Since he almost certainly never will, it would be a de facto life sentence.

Yeah, but both factors are important.

One of the reasons Bernie is so popular in Vermont is that he's established his credibility as a guy who actually gets poo poo done. IIRC, he's famous for working long hours and for being willing to get minor problems fixed, even if the necessary administrative/policy work is boring & complicated. Those are important qualities for an executive to have *in addition* to having good ideology & values.

I don’t think it is possible to write a law that is impossible to break. Trump can break a law or otherwise violate the Constitution and it’s up to the rest of the legal and government apparatus (and the people themselves) to penalize him for it.

You can write all the laws you want. People enforce them.

You don't lose anything until you cash out. The point of IRA and 401k long term investments is that despite whatever markets do (up and down) it shouldn't matter all that much until you get to retirement. You want a diverse portfolio for that reason and dividends to generate passive income that can be put back in.
