Trump can break a law or otherwise violate the Constitution and it’s up to the rest of the legal and government apparatus (and the people themselves) to penalize him for it. The point of IRA and 401k long term investments is that despite whatever markets do (up and down) it shouldn't matter all that much until you get to retirement. You want a diverse portfolio for that reason and dividends to generate passive income that can be put back in.
