Ms Faehrmann, a former chief of staff to Greens' federal leader Richard Di Natale, said the party's decision to force fellow MP Jeremy Buckingham to resign was a new low for the NSW Greens. Ms Faehrmann said her views were "misrepresented" to the state delegates council, which she could not attend, and she had never urged her fellow upper house member Mr Buckingham to quit. She said she feared that claims put to the meeting that she had told Mr Buckingham to resign from Parliament had influenced the way some people voted. "I am beyond appalled that the party I have been a part of for almost two decades and have poured my heart and soul into has voted to attempt to force a popular and hugely effective MP to resign," Ms Faehrmann said in a Facebook post on Sunday. She said the council meeting used "deliberate tactics" of repeatedly re-wording a no-confidence motion against Mr Buckingham "to wear people down, one by one, and bully them into submission". "Yesterday was a sorry day indeed for our party, a party so proud of our principle of grassroots democracy," Ms Faehrmann wrote. The delegates also debated how to determine who should replace Mr Buckingham on the ticket and whether a recount of votes from the party's upper house preselection in May was required. It is understood the party's state campaign manager, Andrew Blake, told the council that a recount could not happen because there had been a break-in at the party's head office. Ms Faehrmann said Mr Blake's comments were "beyond comprehension" . "How can a political party’s head office be broken into, ballot papers be stolen, and it not being reported to the Federal Police?" Ms Faehrmann wrote. "This raises very serious questions which deserve answers both for party members and for the general public if we are to expect them to continue to put their faith in us." She said there as no doubt that the NSW Greens were now "at a crossroad". "It is my firm belief that the party in NSW has been infiltrated by destructive extreme left forces who will stop at nothing to weaken those in the party, like myself and Jeremy, who want nothing more than to make a difference for the planet, our climate and our future," Ms Faehrmann wrote.
