The thing with the Rothschild stuff is that the family goes back centuries. They are absurdly rich as a whole and because they're big Rothschilds crop up basically everywhere. This mixed with good old fashioned antisemitism and people believing in the Zionist conspiracy stuff leads to a lot of conspiracy talk. That and historical dislike of Jewish bankers in Europe in general. The banking interests they have have a lot of fingers in a lot of pies so yeah they're tangled up in a lot of financial shenanigans for sure. One specific Jewish family being rich bankers doesn't mean all Jews are part of a worldwide conspiracy. It doesn't even mean that every Rothschild is inherently evil and greedy. At one point the family amassed the largest private fortune in the world so of course people are going to wonder what they're up to. Mostly that just seems to be pretty mundane business stuff. They also have interests in mining, agriculture, and wine, among other things. Overall they seem to be quiet and want to fly under the radar if you look at their history. That of course makes conspiracy nuts fill in the blanks with madness.

Historically European Jews are tightly tied to banking. Christians were not allowed to lend money for profit but Jews were. So the banks were basically always run by Jews. If you needed to borrow money you went to the nearest Jewish neighborhood. Of course when the debt piled up and people decided they didn't want to repay it antisemitism got ramped up and everybody drove the Jews away. They were a convenient scapegoat and the fact that a lot of people probably owed them money led to a lot of friction. That was especially true if nobles or royals borrowed money to fund a war or something. Not ever jew was involved in banking obviously but that didn't stop people from just assuming it was a big conspiracy anyway. Same thing with people assuming the Rothschild family is part of a huge conspiracy. Yeah that's a big Jewish banking family with a lot of money but that doesn't mean they're part of a secret cabal of Jews that screctly run the world. Some of them just decided to be artists or scientists instead of business people.
