I wish they'd at least do a limited release in Lego stores with those China sets. I can see why they aren't going to fill up Wal Mart with them, but there are plenty of people that would buy them outside of China. Love that New Years set. It's like a non suck version of that Big Bang Theory Diorama. I'm guessing those will be pricey on Ebay too, huh?

I'll have to check with my taiwan based acquaintance whether he can buy them and ship them to me...

The exclusive figures and colors and poo poo all look great but honestly at least the first 2 of those sets both look like incredibly boring builds, they're just flat boxes. Compared to most buildings we're seeing these days it's pretty uninspired. Dragon boat race and the actual dragon thing seem pretty sick though.

I want that Chinese dragon. Chinese junk would be cool too.

Sets should be put on the Lego shop. Lot of Chinese people in the US who would be interested in sets that are directly related to their culture.

There are plenty of Chinese people outside of US as well... Like my wife. Who i am going to ask to buy me these sets while in China next year. I get to buy these sets without paying bricklink/reseller markup. Yay!

I can understand not selling those in regular retailers like Wal-mart since I doubt there would be enough demand. They are cool sets, but in comparison to the other cool stuff I doubt there is enough interest here. I just wish there was at an option on lego.com to order them.

I guess the issue might be that they don't want to bear the costs of producing these in US/European locations, so they are probably limited to whatever factories have in China/Asia. And we all know that Lego is not exactly the best organised company in the world, so probably shipping them over to other locations is also not something they are able to easily do. All three sets are really good and I am also annoyied that I will have to pay inflated prices to import them second hand!

I'm almost certain everything is made in Asia. I think this is some sort of qiud pro quo for the chinese gov letting them win the patent cases.

If i had a country I'd care. I dunno though. It's weird Lego won the patent disputes.

I had a family member in China ask about the sets. The local shop he went to says they are only doing preorders for it, pickup is Christmas Eve, and set 80101 is 699 CNY (~$100 USD). Sounds like it has a markup from that shop, since ebay preorders are around $130 with shipping.

I did think about it, but I don't have the facebutts or the tweets to whore myself out and that seems to be the only way to get anything done on ideas these days. I figured classic space stuff was off limits anyways, we did get the exo-suit but blue+grey classic space never seems to go anywhere.

Anyone know of a tool or something where I can load a set inventory, and see what parts in that set are available in different colors? Like, if I want to see what parts in this particular set are available in black, green, blue, yellow, red, and white. I know I could manually go through each part on Bricklink, but...that'd be a pain in the rear end.

# ? Dec 14, 2018 06:27 |

Not that I'm aware, I think you'd have to go through each part individually with whatever database you use.xzzy posted:I figured classic space stuff was off limits anyways, we did get the exo-suit but blue+grey classic space never seems to go anywhere. Nah, I'd say that a lot of Lego fans (or at least the ones that vote on Ideas) are relatively new and don't have nostalgia for Classic Space. They just want their favourite nerd thing in Lego, and that's the kind of thing that always seems to get the most votes.

Was benny's spaceship not popular? I felt that perfectly blended the classic space feel with new designs and elements.

Maybe, I have no idea to be honest. I loved it and I know tons of people that loved it too, but I'm just saying that I get the feeling that the demographic that votes for Ideas submissions doesn't exactly overlap with Classic Space fans which is why Classic Space ideas submissions never get anywhere.
