Gonna. Assuming his graph of the Tuba's output with an 8" vs a sealed 12" is accurate, that's what I'm looking for. More oomph, without filling up the trunk. I've got that area over the axle to play with, if you're familiar with late Panther chassis cars, which should be big enough for the design. I need to measure to be sure, though. I knew folded horns were more efficient, but I've never really seen a design for cars.

In my old house I had a Table Tuba laying behind the sofa running an 8" JBL GTO804 driver, the amp was a cheap 100w plate amp turned up to about 3 and the thing slammed. It was awesome, the full cinema experience for about £120 in bits and wood. You should be pretty happy with an autotuba if like you say you have the space for it.

Check with your local fire department. Some of them will offer classes to the public for very cheap - usually AED, CPR, and basic first aid all in one. It'll be on their web page if it's a thing they do.

If they don't, check with Red Cross and American Heart Association for local classes (my last certification was American Heart Association). Also check with HR at work - they may have to have a certain number of people on-site that are certified; if they do, they may pay for you to go.

Will do! I've contacted four rescue squads around the area and I'm looking into what they have to offer. Most of them will train me as far as I want to go if I volunteer, which is a really cool system.

I'd consider a Tuba for the house as well, but honestly, the single 12" ported sub we have on the home theater doesn't even get a workout. If I had a soundproofed theater room or something, maybe. My wife and I sleep at different times, and pretty much don't watch the same movies, so, meh. I put a big-rear end TV in the bedroom for her to use, but she still just takes over the living room, since she gets home from work before I do.

At least I won't have to gently caress with that when we do ours. My wife works at a paint and drywall company. The guys do side jobs - but only painting. I still have to do the drywall myself. And with how many cracks mine has, it may just be easier to pull it all down and start over.

Finally added a light kit to the bedroom ceiling fan (bedroom is a wire free zone thanks to GF's wire-destroying cats, so no lamps, chargers, etc...). For whatever reason, the first few buildings in this complex don't have lights on the fans, even though the website photos show them (management gave us the okay to add the light kit).

Who can tell me what kind of surprise was waiting for me in that cover had I not noticed something lurking, and had I been a little careless with the plug? I'm glad it had a plug, but that could have been a rather... painful.. experience.

That will also get rid of them completely for all users rather than just the current user.

That's part of the fun though, seeing your answer down there and everyone else up here. I mean, I have answers to all of these questions in mind and every game I sit back and think, "huh...I would never have thought of that, but yeah I can see it!"

And besides, half the fun anyway is just bantering why you're right/everyone else is wrong when the answers are revealed.

Dddddouble post.

GF sent me to the garage with orders to "find all of the Christmas stuff - there should be 2 boxes of lights, 1 of ornaments, a tree, and wrapping paper".

I only found the tree and wrapping paper, and went through literally every box in the garage. I also rearranged it a bit. It took a few pallets of KY, but the Saturn is in there. It's a very tight squeeze, I can barely get out of it. She told me to go through every box to find everything, so I did. She didn't tell me NOT to rearrange the garage to not be a disaster while I was in there. :v:

(she's gonna lose her poo poo, but we agreed the garage was mine to park in "as soon as everything got moved to storage"... that was in August.. I've been bugging her daily for about 2 months about the whole storage room thing, and weekly since I moved here)

Finally got the estimate for the damage to the Forte yesterday, almost a month after the accident. I bitched about it in Slack, but for the rest of you here's what's up.

$11k in damage, $13k after taxes, appraiser valued it at $6k over sticker price or $3k more than the grand total on my bill-of-sale. While I did get a little bit of a discount because my brother sold it to me, it's a base model compact, my screaming good deal was a savings of a couple hundred bucks. I can't find a base model manual Forte being sold for even remotely close to that valuation anywhere, let alone with 3,300km on the clock.

Also the front bumper is now cracked on the right side. The shop won't take responsibility for it and from the pictures in the estimate there is no indication of front-end damage when the appraiser looked at it. I sure as poo poo hadn't had a chance to mount a curb or bump a snowbank with my two-week-old car before I got rear-ended.

I'm saying it.

Posted in the OSHA thread about a noew opportunity but got a response in 24h of submitting my interest in a new job. Applications close on xmas eve but I already have a call back.

I thought it was a generic email but the phone call from them mentioned that I just was natural in my cover letter and not a drone. I have a comfortable job so I literally wrote the thing drunk not giving a gently caress about corporate speak. I have a 3rd party experience as a contractor with them and detailed the ways I can fix specific things and it must have hit a mark.

Not really celebrating yet as I don't have the job and its the holiday season. But the vibe over the phone was super positive and wanting a face to face (requires travel) is a plus. Bonus is if I get this job I have a friend in that city close, and we can do stuff in the shed for real.
