I remember hearing that somewhere but never seeing anything verifying it. Regardless though, at this point over the past few years, it's become very clear that what Kojima wants and what Konami wants are two painfully different things.

Money too, so you're free to go the velvet room at the first opportunity and buy some high-level personas you want from your compendium and smash monsters. I started my NG+ on Hard and have been keeping Joker stocked with a persona or two like 10+ levels ahead of the game but not absurdly overpowered. Mostly want to finish off the social links I didn't complete in my first run (Iwai, the gun kid, Chihaya, the reporter I think?) and see some different versions for stuff like the vacation.

Oh christ I've been neglecting registering my Personas. :(

hell, I only today found out how to use the cards to update the Persona's abilities :v:

If I remember correctly -- all Personas are auto-registered when you first acquire them and that button to manually register them just updates them with their level ups, etc.

Not sure I ever used a skill card except maybe following a guide to complete the Wardens' quests.

The one thing that should carry over into NG+ but doesn't is the number of Personas you can hold at once. Early-game Persona juggling is tedious even when they are basically free to pull out.

That's actually one of my favorite parts of the game.

Just so I have it clear: you can theoretically get all your confidants up to level 9, with one being a level 10 (romance), correct? I've read you can romance more than one but it involves a bad end or something.

Just to be clear, I'm not done with the game yet so I might be wrong on this, but it will be almost impossible to get everyone to max level on your first run if you don't know what you're doing (aka if you're not following a guide).

I mean I did it, so it's certainly not impossible

I only finished the last confidant on the very last available timeslot before end-game kicks into gear, though.

But it's not like Persona 3 where you had to religiously follow a guide, and then you'd end up with a single day left before the endgame plot took over.

I'm not really worried about getting everybody to max, but there are some things that max'd out characters allow you to do from what I've read and I was worried that you could only max them out with Romance, so I was having anxiety on if I chose person X to romance, I wouldn't get the bonus that person Y gives you when they are maxed out.

The tears of time
There's a lot of great music in this game, but I think I'll remember the Casino palace music the longest. I was singing along (with completely misheard lyrics) by hour three or four of hearing it loop in-game, and I had a physical reaction when I heard it remixed in the dancing game.

Blew me away the first time you heard the vocals on that, I think it's not until after you defeat Kamoshida? Kept expecting that to happen with some of the other instrumental songs but it's better they used that trick once and put it away.

You can just romance everyone if you want, there's no penalty.

Cool fact, if you wanna kill some Reaper without having the flu just do it for you:

If you let him ambush you, he only gets one action per turn instead of two. This is also the only justifiable use for the "Thermopylae" skill in the entire game

Yeah I’ll definitely have to do some things differently if I go through a NG+; I never interacted with the fortune teller or politician. I’m curious to see what other relationships are like if I pursue them a bit differently. Great game overall!

The fortune teller is hella useful for maxing out your other Confidants. And the politician's story is pretty great.

Romance things I did in the game that I stick by: not trying to romance Ann because my mate Morgana has a crush on her and I don't want to gently caress up his chances if he ever regains his human form back. Not dating more than one gal because that's a poo poo thing to do. Not attempting to date the doctor or reporter because holy poo poo my character is 15 and that's creepy and would lead to psychological troubles later in his life*. Not attempting to date Futaba because she's like 12 or something, yeesh.

I really liked how when Morgana returns at the end he's in his real world cat form only. The fact that after the final boss the game plays for an additional hour to finalize the story was really great.

The fortune teller was never around whenever I went to Shinjuku after the first time I saw her there. Is there a trick for having her appear?

Also I think in my NG+ I will try to actually power up my Personas more than I did. I was pretty drat lazy about it. One one hand it's neat that you can seemingly get really deep on how to power up and on the other hand the game didn't seem to require that you go very deep. I never turned Personas into items, and I didn't learn really how to use Black items to power up other items or however that works.

I really want to finish Sojiro's story because he was a great help to me.

During the last day where you go out to say goodbye to all your friends around town, the only people I could find were the bartender, the airsoft shop keeper, and the Doctor, who seemed to be all "ok, see ya" which was a bit anticlimactic (oh and of course Hifumi who I chose to date in the game). Was there something I missed? I never found the teacher, the arcade kid, the reporter, etc. I was hoping for actual goodbyes.

*yes I was tempted to date the teacher but mostly because I thought her massage that would allow you to walk around after a dungeon was only available through romance.

You missed a lot of confidants, haha. Also the protagonist is 16, and Futaba is 15. There are lots of reasons not to date Futaba but age between characters isn’t one of them.

Yeah I figured they were supposed to be within a year of each other in the game, but to me she just read as a 12-13 year old I although she's a neat character and touches a lot on anxiety issues etc I just couldn't hang with the idea of trying to date her in game.

The persona 5 ending is actually pretty happy compared to the other ones. The confidants should be in their usual spots, maybe if you don't max them they don't show up? I dunno i maxed them all the one time i played it.

I actually enjoyed how the game was very good at making you say "Jesus christ this person loving sucks and they are bad gently caress them" and then you learn their story and "oh man they got a raw loving deal and went through some terrible stuff I hope I can help them :smith: ". I see Morgana in the same way.

Edit: Morgana's run animation was cheap as hell and I loved it.

I've not been through P5D just yet but with P3D it's pretty much that after the events of P4D Justine/Caroline (Lavenza) and Elizabeth both get into a fight over which team can dance better and they pull the characters out of a dream during their peak membership. It's canon in the same way Persona Q is, they're having a good time and there's some fun character interactions, but no one will remember.
